Vad du kommer att göra

Queer History around the Historic Center's Main Street in the 19th & 20th Centuries

In this part, Part 3 of 4, of the Gay History experience, you will learn about the gay community's activities during the 19th & 20th centuries in the Historic Center of Mexico City.

At the former Military Academy you will visit the collections of Mexican wars & learn of the first trans man officially, but maybe unsuspectedly, recognized as a male Colonel by the Army.

We will visit the Palace of the Countship that as of today still hosts the cruisiest restrooms in town which were made popular all over the country by a store chain.

You will see the official main offices of government censorship against "immoral" editions before coming across the backstage door of the Old National Theatre where gay men hooked up.

We will see replicas of high heel shoes worn at the famous cross-dressing ball of "Those 41" in 1901 & stroll past the first porn cinema, the first steam baths for men & Dr. Fagg's office.

We will come across one of the two last-standing gay cinemas on our way to a former convent where "the favorite seminarist" of the Inquisidor-In-Chief is said to have lived.

We will guide you to many more forgotten secrets along the Main or High street of the times & will tell you about where the community moved to in the 50s, Zona Rosa, which you can visit in full in Part 4, booked separately.

For decades as a hobby & then as a professional activity, I have researched & shared the history of diversity that has been forgotten, left hidden or in the closet for most of its parts to help advance the fight for equality.

I have earned my National Tour Guide License & also a Hosting Diploma by Walt Disney University in Florida. My curated & focused walks showcase Women's, Indigenous, LGBT, Jewish, US American & other diverse sides of history in Mexico at its relevant sites.

I thrive to show our vast history, arts & traditions; from Mexico before Mexico & its founding in 1325 A.D., to date; not in a boring way but in one that I expect may amuse you.

I share the stories from the diverse communities that shaped us at places where it happened. Malinche, Luis Carvajal, Sor Juana, Salvador Novo, Frida Kahlo & Robert Brady are part of it.
