Workout with a view: Fitness at the Art Museum steps

Exercise outdoors with an incredible view of the city of Philadelphia. Meet your instructor at the bottom of the Art Museum stairs for a full body workout using the environment as your gym!

This workout is for all fitness levels. Traditional body weight exercises (push-ups, sit ups, planks, squats) with an innovative twist! We use the outdoor terrain to add intensity and creativity to your workout sessions.

Developed and instructed by a physical therapist, this class is safe, effective and easily adaptable to every exerciser, regardless of fitness level. New to fitness? This class is for you. A seasoned athlete? Come and get your sweat here! Get outside the four walls of the gym into the fresh air and sunshine.

Schedule and Locations:
Monday & Wednesdays at 6 AM: Art Museum BACK steps
Tuesday/Thursday/Fridays at 6 AM: Art Museum FRONT steps

Monday/Tuesday/Thursdays at 6:15 PM: Art Museum FRONT steps

Saturdays at 9 AM: Art Museum FRONT steps

I am a licensed physical therapist, certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and founder of CoreFitness. I have always loved being outside and being on a team. Teaching outdoor fitness classes combines those to passions perfectly and it's awesome to watch others develop their own passion for fitness.

My level is probably moderate, and I would say it was an invigorating exercise: there was challenge but I could keep up. I would say a beginner could do this exercise too, if you slightly modify some exercises (like a push up). The hosts are very friendly, energetic, and encouraging. Reccomend to anyone who wants to break a sweat to start the day off, and even meet new friendly faces. I plan on signing up every time I come back to visit.

A wonderful way to start the day! The instructor was very friendly and made us feel like part of the group. The view from the Rocky Steps was amazing as we completed a very effective workout combining core, cardio, legs, and arms. So glad my husband and I did this!

Gina's workout was FANTASTIC! We were in town for a wedding and I wanted to get a good sweat in before we began the festivities of the evening...and boy, did Gina deliver. The class was an excellent combination of body weight-based strength exercises and high-intensity cardio, utilizing the steps and the side ramp for running and sprints. I exercise regularly and I was SO tired by the end of the hour-long class (in a good way!). Gina did a great job of demonstrating how to make exercises more challenging for those who wanted to increase intensity and how to scale exercises back for those who have injuries or wanted to take a breather. The class was a good mix of "regulars," who know each other and come frequently, and first-timers. I couldn't tell if we were the only out-of-towners, but the whole group was quite welcoming and several even pulled us into conversation, offering suggestions of sights to see and places to grab a bite to eat. Overall, I was so impressed and left feeling accomplished at 10 a.m. on a Saturday. Will definitely return the next time I am in Philadelphia! Thanks again, Gina!

Cindy was my instructor on the day, whi was very welcoming. What a great location for a full body cardio workout, steps are fully utilised in this diverse workout. A lovely group of people on the day too. I would definitely recommend.

What an amazing work out, Gina is so motivational, and she definitely gives you 100. Working on the steps with such an amazing view of the city is a def must do!
