1. Kimchi Making + scallion pancakes (Pajeon) (1.25hrs)

We will make Kimchi & scallion pancake (Pajeon) with dipping sauce. I will explain the culture/history of Kimchi, fermentation process, health benefits and storage tips.

**All classes except the special event classes (see below) are for Kimchi making + scallion pancakes**

  • List of ingredients below is for Kimchi + pancake class. Specific amounts will be provided after booking. If you booked special event class, separate ingredients list will be sent after booking. Please send me a message to see the list in advance
  • For Kimchi: Napa cabbage (or white cabbage), coarse (kosher) salt, sugar, Korean red chilli flakes ("Gochugaru"), apple, white onion, ginger, garlic, scallions/green onions, carrot, white flour (or rice flour), fish sauce or miso paste
  • For pancakes: cooking oil, scallions/green onions, flour, water, salt and sugar, fresh chilies (optional), mixed seafood (optional)
  • For pancake sauce: soy sauce, scallions, chilli pepper flakes, sesame oil (optional), sesame seeds (optional)
  • Equipment: 3 mixing bowls, chopping board and knife, food processor/blender, non-stick frying pan, sauce pan, spatula/mixing spoon, sterilized jam jars/pickling jars (or airtight food container)

Omg. It was such an amazing experience. Wan Jeong was wonderful and super nice. She had a lot of patience with us and she was very motivating. Definitely will try another of her classes. Would recommend 100%

This was my third class with Wan Jeong. I'm loving exploring Korean food, and my husband has been very happy to join in the fun with me at the dinner table! Everything I've made has been delicious, and because Wan Jeong sends out carefully written recipes afterwards, they will be easy to recreate many more times. I would definitely recommend you sign up for her classes!!

Fantastic Kimchi & Pajeon class by Wan Jeong. The class was very informative, engaging & fun. Learnt a lot of skills for Kimchi fermenting and Pajeon grilling. Highly recommended!

Fantastic second class with Wan Jeong. She is so attentive and detailed and courteous and patient, I cannot say enough about her as a teacher! I have a small kitchen and she was SUPER patient with me as I tried to juggle three dishes that were on the menu. All three turned out absolutely amazing. The menu included Soondubu (Korean spicy tofu soup, my favorite spicy soup for many years), and I was stunned, it turned out EXACTLY like what I can order at a Korean restaurant!! (In both flavor and appearance). It may be time for me to invest in a stone soup bowl for presentation the next time I make it ;)

Wan Jeong was very friendly and had given me a warm welcome. After a short introduction we started with the preparation. First we prepared the kimchi and then the scallions pancakes. Wan Jeong demonstrated every step and explained everything well and understandably, then I was allowed to try it out. She told me about the history and types of kimchi. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. My whole family (friend, parents and parents-in-law) were very happy with the food. I recommend Wan Jeong to anyone who wants to learn how to cook Korean and I will book another course soon. It was a unique experience.

Making Kimchi starts with salting the cabbage. This should be done two hours in advance. This is really easy and take only 5 minutes. Full instructions are provided in the welcome email.
