Vad du kommer att göra

You will be welcomed into our family-run showroom, by chef and food writer Miranda. She is passionate about all types of dough!
After a brief introduction to the 60 year old family business of wood burning stoves you will learn why pizza is so important to the family business.
We will make pizza dough first. Then we will knead some pasta dough. While the doughs are relaxing we will hand make some delicious pasta sauces including pesto in a pestle and mortar, artisan focaccia and fresh tomato sauce.
When the pasta is relaxed you will roll it out and then dry it over the live Rayburn and Esse cookers before turning it into tagliatelle.
You will make a ravioli filling using seasonal ingredients, blend a pizza sauce, talk about and taste local buffalo mozzarella and discuss the best pizza flour.
You will bake off your focaccia to dip it in some delicious aged balsamic vinegar and seriously good olive oil.
We will cook the pizza for lunch. You will get to take your delicious pasta and sauces home for supper.
While we clean down and your bread is cooling, you can nip to the Firehouse Somerset where Miranda set up the pizza oven, and wind down with a local cider or ale after a busy day in the kitchen.
This is a course for all ages and abilities. Disabled access.

I have cooked for more than 25 years. I have worked as both a private chef across the globe and alongside some seriously amazing chefs in restaurants in the U.K. Europe and Latin America. I now rub 5 different Airbnb Experiences, a busy cookery school and host live demonstrations on our Agas, Rayburns and Esse Range Cookers in our Wood-burning stove and heat centre showroom. We also offer a seriously amazing Private Dining service to private homes and holiday accommodation across Somerset, Devon and Dorset.

We will be in an open kitchen in the showroom in Curry Rivel. Surrounded by working Rayburns, Agas and Esse cookers, Sandpits Heating Centre is one of a kind. It is a family-run business that is more than 50 years old. The family also own Living Pretty tea shop in the Old Bakery next door and The Firehouse Somerset Pub opposite. The guests will cook on an array of Wood-burning stoves and Ranges, a one off experience in an amazingly rustic setting

Miranda’s pizza and pasta making course was fantastic! We learnt so much and had such a laugh doing so. So many delicious goodies to take away and enjoy at home too. The course is great value and has set us up well for making fresh Italian dishes at home. Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful time I had. Miranda is a brilliant teacher. She is passionate about her subject and full of really interesting info and useful tips. There’a a perfect mix of watching and learning and then doing. And she’s very patient ! We made delicious pizzas for lunch. Home made just cooked pizzas are a revelation. So simple yet so tasty. I’ve come home with the pasta and focaccia we made. That will be supper. I’m now looking forward to returning to learn other new skills.

Can highly recommend this experience for everyone. We’re a family of 4 and from the time of booking Miranda was in touch asking what we’d like to make and bake. We made pizzas (which we ate for lunch) Focaccia and pasta and sauces (which we took home for dinner). Miranda and Carol were excellent hosts - extremely knowledgeable and put us all at ease. We cooked in their wood stove showroom which is a lovely well equipped kitchen. The day was informative and fun and we really enjoyed it.
