Vad du kommer att göra

Prepare yourself to journey back in time through the 3 most important archaeological sites in Rome: The Colosseum, the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum.

*GLADIATORS. EMPERORS. LEGENDS. MYTHS *

Our experience will begin by the Arch of Constantine next to the Colosseum. After a brief plan of attack and a warm welcome the tour will start.

The first archaeological site we will visit is the Colosseum. Loved by the people of Rome, the Colosseum held bloody battles fought between wild animals and gladiators. Together, we will uncover the incredible story that lead to the creation of the stadium and discuss exactly how this colossal building was made. Most importantly, we will delve into the events that took place in the Colosseum, leaving no stone unturned.

Venturing on, we will head to the Palatine Hill. Famous for being the birthplace of Rome some 2800 years ago, the hill also housed the Emperors and Rome’s elite. Walk in the footsteps of the emperors through the remains of the Palaces and admire views over Ancient Rome and the Colosseum.

Lastly, we will walk down into the Roman Forum, the ancient city centre. We will walk on the very same stones Julius Caesar once did, passing Roman houses, towering temples, triumphal arches, tombes of emperors, and the senate house.

I’m a coffee, gelato and fitness lover from the UK. I’ve been working in Rome since 2015, when I stumbled across the city with Harry on our interrail trip. The rustic alleyways, warm summer nights and incredible food had me hooked - I knew I had to stay here.

I began studying local history straight away, and graduated into working as a tour guide in 2016. It feels crazy to say that was four years ago - it’s flown by.

I’ve found that teaching others through tour-guiding has actually taught me a lot about myself - which makes it a really enjoyable, fascinating job. When I take my guide badge off a few things you might find me doing is running, muay thai kickboxing, watching sunsets, scuba-diving, meeting new people and experiencing new things.

Lets seize the day and explore Rome together.

The Colosseum - Prepare to marvel at the biggest building in Ancient Rome. Constructed in 80AD for the people of Rome to watch fights and celebrate.

The Palatine Hill - On the hill are the remains of Cesars Palaces. Nowadays a large portion of the ancient palaces remain and con be explored.

The Roman Forum - The forum is the location of the ancient city center. Here you can find social, political and religious buildings.

Paolo was the perfect guide through ancient Rome! He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, exactly what I wanted. The group was small, as advertised, and we did mostly skip the line (excepting checking vaccination status, which was only a few minutes).

We had Paolo as our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic! It was so clear that he loves his job and was genuinely excited to share his knowledge with us. He was so thoughtful and aware of our comfort from providing bathroom breaks to making sure we got all the best photo spots. He knew all of our names and constantly checked on us to make sure we were engaged and enjoying our time! I learned so much and will remember it all because of how dynamic and entertaining Paolo was! Absolutely great tour and worth every penny!

Our guide was amazing!!! Great story telling! Great reference pics, everything she pointed out was very informative! I was lost and my phone almost dead and she took the time to take me where I could find a place to buy a charger and even gave me her ticket to ride the train to the station. She went above and beyond in every way! Amazing!

This was a great tour! It was worth having a guide because there is so much to see that we would have missed on our own. It is surely 2.5 hours of walking. There are bathrooms and water fountains in different areas for your convenience. Our guide, Sonia, has a pleasant demeanor and she remembered our names. She has a passion for history. As an archaeologist, she gave a different perspective which we appreciated. She explained the layers of excavation of the ruins and other places in the city. She did a fantastic job of incorporating the ruins into the greater history of the city, giving both general and religious context. We started our tour at the Arch of Constantine. We went to Palatine Hill, then The Forum, and finished at the Colosseum. Palatine Hill is pretty straight forward. In the Forum, we had the choice to view from ground level or from above. We chose to climb several sets of stairs (not all at once) to view from the top. It was worth it to get a bird's eye view of the Forum and other excavated sites that we wouldn't have seen from ground level. Sonia had artist renderings of the Forum as it was centuries ago. That helped put what we were seeing in perspective. It was a nice touch. Though the tour's description lists the Colosseum first on the list, we went there last. Sonia gave the context for how the Colosseum fit into Roman life. We learned that there was so much more history to the Colosseum than just the gladiator games. Our tour did not include the level beneath the arena floor.

Brilliant guide through the three amazing areas of Ancient Rome. Great story telling with great knowledge and detail of the areas, and how they came to be. Well worth getting a guide, and no need to look any further!
