Private Garden CottageRelax in our cozy cottage nestled in a serene garden setting, the perfect get-away after a day of business meetings or sightseeing. We are close to major Silicon Valley destinations; 30 minutes from San Francisco, San Jose and the beach in Half Moon Bay —with easy access to Highways 101 and 280, as well as public transportation (SamTrans, Caltrain and BART via Caltrain). Our quiet street is an easy 5-minute walk (0.2 mi) from downtown San Carlos with shops and literally dozens of restaurants.
Silicon Valley Home...Private BathOur old hot tub will be removed Friday, February 21, and the new one won’t be installed until the middle/end of March, so please be aware of that when making a reservation. We adopted a kitten! On May 19, we adopted a kitten from our local shelter. If you like kitties, I think you’ll love Freddy. If you’re not a kitty fan, you might want to reconsider your stay. :-( We have a two-bedroom, two-bath home on the Redwood City/Menlo Park border, and we're renting the guest bedroom with its own private bathroom. Our home has convenient access to Highway 101, and it's just 10 minutes to Palo Alto. San Francisco, San Jose, and the coast are about 30 minutes away. During high traffic times, however, those travel times can easily double or more. The house has a beautiful back yard with koi pond, redwood trees, a dozen fruit trees, relaxing sitting areas, and a hot tub. The bedroom has a wood floor, queen bed, dresser, television, desk, and plenty of closet space. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi, and the washer and dryer are at your disposal. Our kitchen was remodeled in January, 2015. Guests are still allowed use of the refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. Since the kitchen is relatively new (and I'm a little anxious about keeping it looking new!), we're asking guests to refrain from cooking on the stove or in the oven. Across the street, our shopping center has made great improvements over the past couple years. There are restaurants ranging from Chinese and Mexican to sandwiches and a brewery, along with a mom and pop bakery/ice cream shop. Of course, there is the ubiquitous Starbucks. In addition to other services, the center also has a handy grocery store, with recently undergone upgrades, to suit your needs. For those who have a car, there is plenty of driveway or street parking with no time limitations. For those relying on mass transit, the house sits midway between the Redwood City and Menlo Park Caltrain stations. Caltrain is a comfortable and convenient way to travel most Peninsula towns from San Jose to San Francisco. The train drops San Francisco passengers off right on the waterfront just outside of downtown. Samtrans, the county bus system with service to Caltrain stations and to San Francisco, stops just a block from our house. Uber/Lyft is really accessible within minutes.
