This is a visual artists house with some painted furniture's and objects, sculptures and paintings. Every small little space of the house is decorated in a very artistic way with a, creative, personal touche.Every corner of the house is done with great care and love, with very tender personal feeling like home made food. It gives you lot of positive energy as it is a south facing house of a centralized position with big doors and windows. The house gets lots of light and air. Although it is Air conditioned yet the doors and windows are designed in such a way so that it gets cross ventilation from all directions. It is a white colored house which also gives a very sophisticated and dignified feelings.
It is a 77 years old house. It was my maternal Grand -parent’s house. My maternal Grand -mother was the daughter of writer Late Jogindra Nath Sarkar, the famous Bengali writer for children. My grand mother's musical instrument (Organ) is still there in our house, which was a gift to her from her father on her wedding. Writer Jogindra Nath Sarkar was Dr. Nil Ratan Sarkar’s younger brother. On whose name Neel Ratan sarkar Medical College and Hospital is there in Calcutta. My mother’s maternal uncle was famous statistician Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobish. Former freedom fighter turner famous philosopher Shree Aurobindo (Ghosh) was my mother’s paternal uncle. My maternal family was a famous family; many of the ancestors had great contribution to the 19th century Bengal Renaissance.
This is the 150 th birth anniversary of writer Jogindra Nath Sarkar. He was born on 28th October 1866. Originally they were immigrants from Jassore, which was part of India before independence. Now it belongs to Bangla Desh. My maternal Grand- father Nirmal Chandra De built this house with great love for his wife Bina and at the end of his life he gifted this house to his youngest daughter Sukla (my mother).
