Built over 130 years ago as a rice merchant's house, it now serves as an old Japanese-style hostel. Our whole family takes pride in the unique atmosphere you will find within this old Japanese-style house throughout eternity. It’s perfect for families and couples as well as for those who are travelling on their own. We eagerly await your arrival.

From the spacious earthen floor with a big hearth table (called irori table) you can reach the back garden through a passage and even see the ceiling with the beams and joists. You can explore the hidden room in the second floor with another hearth table and two Japanese lanterns surrounded by mud walls. From your room on a six tatami floor you can directly access the wonderful garden and enjoy the view of the blooming sasanquas that are now in season.Another room to take a rest is the living room on an eight tatami floor. There is a kotatsu in the cold season, but it will fall below the floor during warm weather. Also, feel free to use the spacious Japanese bathroom that features a big special order bathtub on a granite floor fully enclosed by Japanese cypress.

Gästers tillgång
A stairway leads from the earthen floor to the second floor consisting of a 10 tatami and an 8 tatami room with lattice windows. Also, directly above the guestroom lies the host's bedroom. Feel free to use any room and space within the establishment apart from the two aforementioned.

Andra saker att notera
★ Following the enforcement of the New Housing Law (June 15, 2018 -), you will be listed on the guest registration card at check-in. Also, if you are staying outside of Japan, we will take a copy of your passport.

The area around eight tatami floor room, also a living room and a guest room, is not a wall but a glass door. Kimono is hidden by blindfold, but it is not completely blind, so mainly use it for men's customers here.
The room for guests to take a rest is six tatami floor room and eight tatami floor room. Because it is limited to one pair per day, please decide the room allocation by the guest of the stay.

Please refrain from eating and drinking in your room. We kindly request you to instead eat and drink in the shared space which are the kitchen counter seats, the living room and the earthen floor area. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Meals are not included. Dinner will guide you around the recommended shops nearby. For breakfast, please use Seven Eleven opposite.

In some places, there are Darth Vader figures, masks, lightsaber and other collections. Actually I am Darth Vader of Kawagoe. Someday, I'd like to make "Darth Vader Museum" on the second floor.

Koedo Kawagoe – a townscape full of traditional Japanese storehouses.
The Candy Alley – just 5 min on foot away.
The Hikawa Shrine – where a kami (god) of matchmaking resides.
Kawagoe Castle – a single floor castle of which only a tower and the Honmaru Goten (the primary hall) remains. In fact, it is one of only two castles in whole Japan that still have their Honmaru Goten (the other one being Kouchi Castle).
Kita-in Temple – dismantled from Edo Castle and reconstructed during the Edo era, including the former makeup room of Lady Kasuga and the birthplace of Tokugawa Iemitsu.
Gohyakurakan – the 500 Jizou statues resembling the faces of whoever is passing by.
These are but few examples of what you can discover in Kawagoe.
