The Homer Scowhouse is situated on nearly 3 acres and includes 3 cozy bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, spiral stairs, kitchen, and lots of deck and its only 4 miles from town with fantastic views. The foundation is an historic barge used by canneries in the 1920s. The grounds are lush and the scenery is impossible to beat! The house is in an area defined as the "Homer Bench" with transitional habitat with steep cliffs hosting a wide array of animal and bird species

Boendet
The space is unique in that it is a house built on a fish barge from the 1920s. It has moved in its lifetime from the cannery to high and dry on a beach in Seldovia, to being anchored in Kasitsna Bay, then pulled back into more sheltered waters in Little Tutka Bay during fall and winter. Lots of memories live in the house and two kids were raised in it -- partially across the Bay and the rest of the time, on McLay Road in Homer. Its setting is spectacular and the view never ceases to move and amaze me!

There has been quit a bit of media attention upon vacation rentals and on-site video cameras. Let me assure you there are NO cameras in the house or on the property.

Gästers tillgång
The entire house and property is available to access by the guests.

Andra saker att notera
One last thing to note is the spiral staircase. I have lived with it so long, it is easy for me to use, but some people can be uncomfortable climbing it. To help keep you safe, there is a railing to hold onto when you use it, and there is also an outdoor staircase to the upstairs.

Homer, Alaska, USA

The Scowhouse is only a little over 4 miles from town. In town, you can find great places to eat, an amazing museum, our very own movie theater, the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Islands and Ocean Visitors Center and groceries. Bishops Beach is the town's beach and is a great place to walk -- especially at low tide. The Homer Spit is visible from the house and it's shops, fishing businesses and kayak and water taxi businesses are entertaining and helpful if you are looking for excursions on the Bay. I highly recommend a boat trip on the Danny J to Halibut Cove for a look at the galleries there and enjoy a terrific lunch or dinner.

I arrived in Homer Alaska in 1979 and with the exception of a 6 year hiatus in Idaho, have called it home ever since. I also raised two kids here. I love this place and am proud to call it home! While the place is indeed spectacular, the community is even better! I enjoy writing, gardening, traveling, cooking, reading, and boating around the Bay. I've worked in the non-profit arena through most of my working years. I love living in a community where the arts flourish and minds are open. And, I love visitors! They constantly remind us how lucky we are to live and play here!
