  • Due to hail in 2019, the school got a 3 coat painted face lift after being power washed! When the sign is done, and windows replaced, it will look almost new again!
  • Center School District 185, circa 1892. (Solomon Butcher Photo) If you look closely at the reaper, you will see a man sitting on it, dressed to teach his students. It originally stood about 4 1/2 miles SE of Callaway, NE... moved here in 2010.
  • The red dot shows the location of Center School BnB Museum. It's at the corner of Walnut and Jefferson. (203 West Jefferson)

  • The bathroom is separate from the main lodging area and contains the shower and laundry facility.
  • Bathroom - shower & laundry facilities. We hope to install a larger water heater in 2019. We've hosted many larger groups than we thought. The cabinet for the sink (added) was my grandmother's kitchen cabinet in the sod house where she was born.
  • The closet under the stairway has room for a few hanging clothes, but is mostly storage. There is no wifi, but there's a selection of movies in the cupboard.
  • Guests have used the bed, and both sofa sleepers... and have even used the two foot tall air mattress placing next to the table. We also have a pack and play.
  • The queen size sofa sleeper and the bed both have 2" memory foam pads on top of the mattress to add comfort to your overnight stay.
  • When all three beds are opened out, there is still room for the twin air mattress and the pack and play. The queen sofa sleeper and the bed both have memory foam pads on the mattress for extra comfort.
  • The B&B is in a basement below Center School District #185 (a one room schoolhouse districted in 1892). Berni and Dave Crow have turned the upper floor into a working schoolhouse museum open free to visiting guests and other travelers.

  • Yes, I painted two coats completely by hand. The first oil coat was sprayed on.
  • In 2020, we will work on all of the windows, and I will hopefully get the original school sign repainted and placed back on the front of the building. It will also get new shingles.
  • You can see the space where the original sign was located above the anteroom roof. I am working on the lettering on the original sign. When the windows are replaced, and the sign put up, it will be finished for the present time.
  • "Pure Nebraska" visited Center School and did a news story on the 1892 school building. (Students wait for the school bell to ring - to begin what will simulate a school day in the late 1800s.)
