Your retreat from it all! Enjoy the tranquil sanctuary of our hidden valley on the Pecos River. A beautiful 45 minute drive from Santa Fe and only 20 minutes from the historic railroad town of Las Vegas.
Take time out to write, paint, sing, unwind ... spend time by the river, soak in the local hot springs, visit our horses. Enjoy your own private patio and grill. Sip your morning coffee listening to the sound of the running water in the 'acequia'.

My husband and I created the 'studio' from an old adobe cow shed seventeen years ago when we moved on to the property. We fell in love with this tranquil hidden valley as soon as we crested the hill and saw its beauty with the back-drop of Glorieta Mesa, the largest mesa in North America.

The wooden plank floors are all original and we put the spiral staircase up through the hole in the ceiling where the hay used to be pushed down to the cows. A new roof with skylights creates a welcoming sleeping space and the comfortable queen size bed and two futons allow up to three people to stay.

The thick adobe walls and shading from the big 'grandmother' cottonwood tree keep the house cool in the summer. Base board heat and the option of an antique wood cooking stove keeps things very cozy in the winter.
We added the 'atrium', which also helps keep the house warm in winter and is a lovely place to sit in the early mornings and evenings during the summer.

There is only a minimal grocery store close by and no restaurant closer than Las Vegas, so you will need to bring your groceries. We provide all organic breakfast sundries, local organic farm eggs, coffee and tea and plenty of cookware and utensils.

We are in a rural area that in days gone by was a vibrant farming community with 'acequias' coming off the Pecos river for irrigation. Now it is mostly hay that is grown with the exception of Dragonfly Farm, a small 'one woman' bio-dynamic farm and an Ostrich farm. The area is exceptionally beautiful with its combination of fertile river land and large trees juxtaposed with the surrounding mesas and rock formations.

We are available most of the time if you need help with something and are happy to point you to places to go in the area like the historic Pecos Valley National Monument, Montezuma hot springs and Villa Nueva State Park, which has a beautiful hiking trail and fishing in the Pecos River.

If you want more activity, you could go to the hot springs at the United World College in Las Vegas, visit the gorgeous Dwan Light Sanctuary and have a romantic dinner at the newly renovated historic Plaza Hotel. For Longmire fans, visit Sheriff Longmire's office on the Plaza and then mosey over to JC's New York Pizza and shoot some pool or go bowling!
