Morgan’s Place is a cosy, open plan self-catering 'cottage' ideal for those who wish to relax while sampling the delights of Bovey Tracey with its well-known art gallery, cycling cafe, eateries, food shops, park and delightful wooded walks, all a short stroll away. Adjacent to the owners’ home, it has easy access to both Dartmoor, Haytor and local beaches. Exeter, Totnes, Dartmouth and Plymouth can be reached via A38, a short drive away, convenient for both workers and tourists.

Boendet
Morgan's Place is a comfortable, detached 'cottage' with a spacious living area and a compact twin bedroom with built in wardrobe and shelving. It is self-catering with all you need for cooking, including hob top, combination microwave oven and utensils, and a slow cooker for those delicious stews you may wish to prepare for a warming aroma when you come home tired from a cycle or walk on Dartmoor. With wifi, a flat screen tv and books and games, there is plenty to do for those rainy days. On the edge of this small town, Morgan's Place has a garden view and a glimpse of the moors from the front patio area. What we lack in views, we make up for in convenience and the option of leaving the car behind for the day.
We can lock bikes away in our shed for the night.
(Please note, Morgan's Place is not suitable for children under 12 and infants).

Gästers tillgång
We do not provide use of our garden as we have grandchildren and dogs at loose at times. However, there is a patio area outside the entrance to Morgan's Place, with chairs and a table, which is for the sole use of guests.

Andra saker att notera
Morgan's Place is pet-free, smoke-free, vape free and only available to adults.
Our dogs use our garden and are generally very quiet. If they occasionally bark they are brought inside. They are not allowed to enter Morgan's Place which we keep pet and smoke free.

Bovey Tracey, England, Storbritannien

Bovey Tracey, called the "Gateway to the Moor", is a haven for walkers and sightseers alike, with its many Tors, ponies and beautiful gorse and heather. For cyclists, Bovey Tracey has been on a stage of the Tour of Britain including the well known challenging cycle route up to Haytor on Dartmoor National Park. It hosts a number of annual festivals including the Green Man Spring Festival in April, an award-winning Contemporary Craft Fair in June and Nourish Food Festival which takes place in early September. The newly opened Dartmoor Whiskey and Gin Distillery on the site of the old town hall hosts musical evenings and tasting sessions. There are also a selection of good eateries, a cycle cafe and pubs just a short stroll or drive away from Morgan’s Place, where you can taste local produce and have a Devon Cream Tea!

For those wanting a more active break, there is a new Circus Themed escape room in Bovey Tracey and slightly further afield, there is a Go Ape treetop adventure experience, a gym at Finlake, with both indoor and outdoor pools and Ullacombe, a lovely farm shop and cafe en route to Haytor.

You can walk from Morgan's Place, through our lovely town park and along the old disused railway line to the charming village of Lustleigh with its thatched roofs, and enjoy a drink or meal in the Cleave Inn either inside or in their peaceful pub garden. Or drive to Widecombe, where the church of St. Pancras is known as 'the Cathedral of the Moors', to enjoy the hostelry of the Old Inn in the centre, or take tea and cake at the Cafe on The Green while you watch the Dartmoor ponies amble past. You may prefer to take the 5 minute walk to the Rugglestone Inn with its log fires, home-cooked food and cask ales.

For a coastal experience, Teignmouth 'a hidden gem' is a 20-minute drive away and has a pier, promenade, pubs, eateries and two beaches. It was featured in the recent film The Mercy, so you can follow in the steps of Colin Firth and Rachel Weisz as you explore what it has to offer. There is the coastal beach for swimming and the Back Beach - a harbour and river beach - where you will find 'The Crab Shack' serving freshly caught crab and fish. The Ship Inn, also on the Back Beach, hosts outdoor events from jazz, accoustic and folk festivals to bbq's on the beach and firework displays. Further along the quay is a watersports centre, where you can row, kayak or paddleboard up the river. Once you have experienced what's on offer you can take a short ferry ride on the oldest passenger ferry in England, from Teignmouth to Shaldon, a small fishing village with a village green. The atmospheric Ferry Boat Inn is on the beach and has an outdoor seating area and live music. A short walk and you can go through Smugglers Tunnel to Ness Cove, a secluded beach, sheltered by cliffs.

If you are still in the mood for being on the water, there are ferries from Torquay to Brixham or Dartmouth. Or visit Totnes, 'the Alternative Capital of Europe' and take a boat down the river Dart to Dartmouth, past Agatha Christie's Summer House, now owned by the National Trust.

In fact there are twenty National Trust properties and countryside within twenty miles of Bovey Tracey and many more spread over Devon, from Castle Drogo with it's wonderful gardens, views over the moors and walks into the Teign valley to A La Ronde in Exmouth, with its unique shell clad ceiling.

Our guests have the advantage of privacy as they are in a separate unit. We are busy and not always available or on the property, however, we will meet you on arrival and are happy to help with any queries or advice regarding the local area when we are around. Please come to the front door as one of our dogs makes a bid for freedom if the side gate is used.
