We're lucky enough to have an excellent pub restaurant 'The Hope & Anchor' near us in South Ferriby, (10 min drive) which we wholeheartedly recommend not only for it's food but also it's Humberside Views. It has won many national awards.

Sadly no pubs are within walking distance of the farm, however if you're after a quiet pint in front of an open fire we can also recommend 'The George Hogg' in Winterton which is 5 mins drive.

Tea and cakes can be best enjoyed in Barton's Ropewalk Art Gallery and Museum or The Pink Pig Farm Restaurant near Scunthorpe. For a full 'Afternoon Tea' experience outside of our grounds, we recommend our local Hilton DoubleTree Hotel.

• Supermarkets •

Our closest supermarkets are Aldi, Scunthorpe (5 mins), Co-op Winterton (5 mins), Sainsburys, Scunthorpe (10 mins). We are also happy receive supermarket orders on the day of your checkin for an additional £20/delivery.

(We're more than happy to recommend a schedule).

• Family Holidays •

If you're an extended family in need of a big family-friendly house, the Manor can accomodate you all! It's many staircases are perfect for playing hide and seek, and both are Yurt and Library Bedroom make wonderful playrooms. Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, Storbritannien

Sawcliffe Manor and Farm are situated in North Lincolnshire in the midst of farming country and close to Scunthorpe town for amenities, the station and supermarkets.

On the site of a medieval village, the current Manor house dates back 400 years and includes a walled garden, farm, ponds and a nature reserve complete with wild exmoor ponies.

The farm, though mostly arable, does include sheep. If you wish to visit either the sheep or ponies, please just ask us!

During the summer our garden is extremely fruit-baring which we're happy to share with guests. If you like apples and pears you're in for a treat!

Walks: If you're interested in local nature, the ancient maze of Alkborough, known as Julian's Bower and first recorded in 1697, is a 15 mins drive away, Barton-Upon-Humber Humberside walks are 15 mins drive, and the Lincolnshire Wolds are only 30 mins away (for more extensive routes).

Country Parks: Sawcliffe is also sandwiched between two country estates open to the public Normanby Hall (10 mins) and Elsham Hall Country Park (25 mins).

Tourist Towns & Cities: Both the market towns of Brigg and Barton Upon Humber are only 20 mins drive from the Manor. Further afield, both the Cathedral City of Lincoln and Beverly are only 45 mins drive in opposite directions and York City 1 hour and 15 drive (if you've got extra time this is worth a visit).

Hi there! We're Marina, Robert, Max, Emily and Leopold - The Elwes Family! We've lived and travelled to many places across Europe so we appreciate the joy of feeling at home in new places and love to host! Our daughter Emily, who mostly lives from Barcelona, Spain, helps us manage our listings, so if you're thinking of spending time with us you're likely to be chatting to her (she's the tech-savvy one)! Based in the countryside we love sharing our farm, yurt and house with guests. On an average day you'll catch us looking after our sheep, gardening and fixing things in the farm. We have a great love of all things creative, holistic and historical. As a family of many varied interests (our professions vary from Archeologist to Shepard to Startup Founder and Carpenter) we regularly host groups for pheasant or clay pigeon shooting, wellness retreats, weddings and archeological digs - take your pick! The Manor house dates back to Medieval times and was restored to become our family home 15 years ago. One of its quirks is that is features over 9 different staircases (perfect for playing hide and seek)! Its name, Sawcliffe, stands for 'Saw' - Windmill, 'Cliffe' - Hilltop, meaning it can be quite a windy spot depending on the time of the year! The farm is home to some rather unusual natural landscapes including a wild rabbit warren which has been listed as a SSI (Site of Scientific Interest) and also now home to a herd of wild Exmoor ponies. Today the Manor is also features our 60m2 Yurt (or Yurtl as we like to call it) which we use for family parties, Scottish Dancing and Knott-Tying Ceremonies, a recently renovated Victorian cottage and a former dove-cot turned non-dominational chapel for ceremonies. If you have any questions at all please feel free to message us! We love hearing from you and are very flexible to individual needs. Looking forward to meeting you!
