if the walls of the Monte Cristo Bed & Breakfast could talk, what stories they could tell, for this remarkable building has been a part of San Francisco since 1875. Originally built as a bordello and saloon. In the 1920s, it served as a speakeasy. When the great fire swept the city after the 1906 earthquake, homes were put to the torch on Van Ness Avenue to create a firebreak, and the Saloon not only survived, it served as a refuge for the newly post-quake homeless.

This upstairs corner junior suite is located at the corner of the hotel, in the original 1875 structure. Enjoy a city view of a San Francisco from a comfy chaise in the window alcove. With high ceilings, antiques and period wallpaper, you'll feel immersed in San Francisco celebrated architecture and ambiance. The suite has a separate sitting room with a TV and a futon convertible sofa bed. Spend the afternoon reading on the chaise in the bay window alcove.
