Parker och natur i Boston

Park
“Located in the heart of downtown, Boston Common is an essential attraction for all visitors and travelers coming to Boston. Boston's financial district, downtown Crossing, Newbury Street, Copley Place, Public Garden, and many more major attractions are within walking distance. Boston Common used to be a huge grazing area for livestock in the 19th century and now turned into a common space that serves as a park and hosts multiple festivals, events throughout the year. There are various food trucks/vendors near the Park Street stop and various monuments scattered across the Commons. In the winter, the Frog Pond within the Commons transforms into an outdoor skating rink; during the summer the Frog Pond carousel is open to kids along with a nearby playground.”

“Right next to the Boston Commons, the Public Garden is a popular tourist attraction especially during the spring and summer seasons. In the middle of the garden is a huge pond where tourists have the option of riding Swan boats that take you around for a short, relaxing ride. The garden is well-decorated and maintained with beautiful flowers and a common place for people to picnic, take a stroll, walk their dogs, & take photos. Although substantially smaller than New York's Central Park, the Public Garden is a great place to check out!”

“One of Boston's oldest and most beautiful parks. You can get there on a bike path, or by car. It is about 2 miles away. ”

“A five minutes ride brings you to this wonderful location. It's an easy walk around (about 1.5 miles) on mostly flat and paved ground. You can also bike on the trail. The views are very bucolic. I have always dreamed to learn sailing and you can just do that at the pond. I have caught quite a few fish in those dark waters including carp and catfish but there are also massive rainbow trouts. Grab a pair of waders if you want to catch those! ”

Torg
“The main square of the Back Bay area is surrounded by both old and ultra-modern buildings. Its architectural highlight is Trinity Church, a red sandstone building designed by architect Henry Hobson Richardson in his distinctive style, known as Richardson Romanesque. Trinity is widely considered to be his finest work. The murals, frescoes, and painted decorations inside are by John La Farge and much of the fine stained glass is by Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. Facing it, across a grassy lawn where you can enjoy a picnic lunch with neighborhood office workers, is the Boston Public Library founded in 1848 as the first publicly funded lending library in the country. ”

“A gem of a park in East Boston. Great for a picnic with stunning views of Boston. Warm spring and summer nights are incredibly pleasant there. You need to check it out. The sailing center itself is a great gem in Eastie. Not sure about membership or rates. ”
