“Head west through the Hill Country to find this lush wonderland. There are 32 springs and two pools for swimming as well as one magical butterfly garden for exploring. If a single day in this enchanting place isn't enough, we totally understand. ”

State / Provincial Park
“Developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the park’s main attraction is Longhorn Cavern, an underground wonder created by the dissolving and cutting action of an ancient river. Enjoy a guided cave tour, hike a Hill Country trail, and admire some of Texas' best examples of historic CCC architecture. ”

“This park is an exceptional island-like gem surrounded by Lake Travis. For those with swimming in mind, the east side of the park has the most accessible beaches. Boating is very popular here, so we suggest checking out Mudd Cover and Gracy Cove, which are swimming-only area. With Cliffs on the west side, there are some of the prettiest sunset views!”

“Travel to the hill country out 71 west, 45 minutes by car: One of the many LCRA-run Recreation Parks on the Colorado River in the hill country, this one near Spicewood. The lakes are all full as of this writing (2016) -- for the first time in 50 years. The parks in the Western district region are great places to camp, boat and spend time with family. Local to some award-winning barbeque like Opie's, and It's All Good BBQ. I used to work at this particular park, and it's lovely. ”
