My stone terrace cottage is located in one of Kendal's conservation areas and 5 minutes walk to the station, town centre and the river Kent. The cottage is a cosy, quiet, relaxing space with an enclosed wildlife garden at the back of the house.
The house was built in 1820 as an old weavers house apparently. I renovated it 8 years ago with an open plan kitchen and lounge with wood burning stove. The kitchen has an fan oven and gas hob, fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave, and everything you need to cook meals or enjoy a take-out. There is a small kitchen table and chairs that you can get out and use in the house or for breakfast in the garden. The log burner is a treat in winter with a free supply of wood. There is Wifi and a selection of books and maps, allowing you to make the most of your stay. The bedroom is a good size with a comfortable double bed, wardrobe (with full length mirror inside), chest of draws and chair. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination. The enclosed garden out the back gets the sun in the morning till early evening in the summer so you can sit have breakfast or dinner and watch the bees buzzing around wildflowers, pick herbs for cooking or alpine strawberries for breakfast if there are any left :) There's bike (or general kit) storage out the back or in the cellar should you need it. Also bike cleaning facilities. You will have a parking permit for the local area so can park for free either outside the house or nearby. It does get full late afternoon when residents come back from work so you might have to park in one of the adjacent streets. its fine to load outside the door though. Everyone does it.
Kendal is an old market town situated in what i think is one of the most beautiful parts of the country – the Lake District. Its also within 30 minutes drive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making it a perfect base for outdoor sport addicts, walkers and sightseers....

The centrally heated accommodation includes a spacious lounge with comfortable settee, dining table and satellite TV. A bookcase contains a range of reading material on walks and local attractions plus a collection of DVD’s and games. A side door gives level access directly from the parking area to the lounge. The well equipped kitchen includes cooker, microwave, toaster and fridge, with a door leading to the private patio area. An attractive wooden staircase gives access to the first floor which includes a spacious bedroom and modern bathroom. The bedroom includes both a comfortable double-bed and a bed settee (available on request) along with ample wardrobe space and drawers. The double-aspect room enjoys attractive views of the surrounding countryside. The modern bathroom includes a walk-in shower, bath, sink and toilet. This is a cosy private room in a terraced house 5 minutes walk away from central Kendal. You will be easy reach of cafes, the castle, the beautiful river & the brewery arts centre. The space is shared with my partner Michelle & the dog, you have access to all the communal spaces & are welcome to cook. Think hostel simplicity! We are a lived in house so spaces will not be sparkling clean but hygienic 😊 Your bedding & towels always laundered but never ironed 😊 on street parking available.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. A free continental breakfast of cereal and toast is included not to mention as much tea, coffee, chai, herbal tea etc as you like. You are more than welcome to use the kitchen to cook, we have oil, spices etc that you are more than welcome to use. There is no dishwasher unfortunately so the only downside is the washing up :) If you want to get here early or make the best of your last day you can leave your luggage in our front room, as long as the room is vacated by 11 we're not fussy.

    My home is on a small, Lakeland farm set up on a hillside with wonderful views down to the Duddon estuary. You could be woken by the song of a blackbird or robin or the cockerel; otherwise, it's a wonderfully quiet, peaceful spot. The hens and cats hang out in the yard, various sheep breeds, four ponies, and a scattering of cows populate the fields, and beyond that a gate opens onto the hills.
    I can accommodate up to four guests: I have one lovely double room and one twin room available in my old farmhouse (some parts of the house date from the seventeenth century), set on the southern foothills of the Lake District in north England, with splendid views and immediate walking access to the fells. Enjoy real peace and quiet, tasty breakfasts and the homely company of cats and hens. The track to the cottage is narrow, bumpy and steep in places, but the postman and plenty of other guests have managed it fine. You'll be far from the madding crowds, but you'll still have access to the modern world via fibre optic wifi too! The house is my home so you'll be sharing with me; I have a room off the lounge where I work and sleep. ** Please note that at this time I am not accepting single male guests travelling alone. It's most useful to come by car as there is no public transport in the vicinity, but I can happily pick you up from the nearest railway station, Foxfield - for a small fee - if necessary. I can accommodate from one to four guests travelling together and happy to share, as there is just one bathroom (and you'll also be sharing with me). At popular times of the year I might (rarely) offer my second room to other guests, but with discretion, and after consultation with you. My fee is £45 per person per night (though mini-persons – under 12 years – stay for half price, and micro-persons – under two – stay for free). The Blacksmith Arms - an award-winning pub - is a lovely 25-minute walk down the hill (though depending how much you enjoy their wonderful real ale and yummy grub, it could take you a lot longer to get back up!) The closest village is 3 miles away and offers other pubs and cafes, a post office, tourist information centre, a pleasant village square and a village grocer and butcher. The Lake District can be a wet, muddy and cold place sometimes, so don't forget to pack some sturdy, waterproof walking boots or wellies, and a waterproof jacket. If you fancy a sojourn in surroundings that inspired the great romantic poets, then do please come!
    I live in a beautiful, quiet part of the Lake District, with views to the Irish Sea and the hills on my doorstep. The house is part of a hill farm which I share with a farming family - I live in the house, they use the barns and fields but live away on another farm. There is one pub within walking distance which is quietly renowned for really good food and it's cosy, unmodernised interior and friendly atmosphere. The nearest village is a 10-minute drive away (60± minutes by foot).

  • Vår vistelse på Kate plats var underbar. Kate är en fantastisk värd. Hon är mycket omtänksam och välkomnade vår familj med varmt te. Hennes hus ligger på ett vackert läge. Men var beredd att köra genom extremt smala och branta landsvägar. Totalt sett var vår vistelse minnesvärd. Vår enda beklagelse är inte att stanna längre.   • Det här är femte gången min partner och jag har stannat kvar med Kate och vi känner oss som om vi har känt henne i flera år. Den här gången tog vi med oss några vänner som inte varit i sjöarna förut och som blåstes bort av områdets majestät och komforten och lugnet i Kates hem. Varje gång vi besöker upptäcker vi något nytt och den här gången var badhålet i botten av dalen en uppenbarelse. Varje besök i Kate, fåglarna, katterna och kycklingarna är ren lycka och vi planerar redan vårt sjätte besök. Saknar dig redan Kate!

  • Hawes är exakt vad jag var ute efter min första resa till Lake District! Det är ett vackert bondgård, bort från kaoset i ett typiskt turistområde (även om du bara är en kort bilresa från vissa turistattraktioner / städer om du skulle vara intresserad). Kate gör verkligen din vistelse speciell med lite inslag av färska blommor, ett bricka med te, kaffe och kex i ditt rum tillsammans med en välkomstguide till Hawes, katterna och det omgivande området, plus en härlig frukost tillhandahålls. Kate är mycket vänlig, välkomnande och lätt att prata med och var jättebra att få mig att känna mig bekväm och hemma. Jag tillbringade mina dagar på att vandra och utforska, medan mina kvällar såg mig krulla av och koppla av framför elden (som Kate vänligen skulle fixa för mig eftersom jag ännu inte har behärskat denna skicklighet!) Med en bok, en kopp te och mycket välkomnande katter. Jag skulle definitivt rekommendera det!

    Small converted outbuilding next to our family home, with own entrance. Ideal Coast to Coast Cycle stopover or to use Penrith as a base. Easy access to the town (10min walk but with a quite steep hill on the way back!) as well as being within 5 miles of the National Park and Ullswater. The property looks over Penrith to the hills and is within a few minutes walk of local woods. Sleeps two people comfortably but able to accommodate up to 4 in total.
    Upstairs bedroom - double bed, additional single mattress available, drawers, patio door to garden area/washing line. Downstairs living area - with double sofa bed, armchair, TV, stereo, microwave/convection oven, dining table. Kitchen area (downstairs) - fridge, sink, electric kettle, toaster, mugs, glasses, basic cutlery. Shower room (downstairs) - loo, small sink, shower. Secure bike storage available in our garage. Please note that the stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and may not be suitable for toddlers. The stairs do not have safety gates. Please also be aware that the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The cooking facilities are a little limited as there is no hob and limited space to prepare food. However, there is a combination microwave (Microwave, Convection Oven and Grill) for heating simple or ready meals. We also live within 10mins of the town centre, for anyone wanting a more substantial meal or to pick up supplies. We have three children, a dog (collie), a cat and some hens - all are friendly! They do not enter the guest accommodation but you may come into contact with them outside.... We are happy to have your children here. We are also happy for you to bring one dog by prior arrangement.
    Penrith is a small market town on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Our property is in town and we are within walking distance of several supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, take aways, pubs, an independent cinema, a leisure centre with swimming pool and climbing wall. We are also very close to Beacon Edge, a popular wooded area for dog walks.

    This is a detached cottage, beside a very small quiet public road at one of the entrances to Kirkwood Estate and farm. With a spacious and secluded garden it offers privacy in a wonderful countryside environment. The whole farm of rolling hills, woodland river, ponds, streams and fields is a wonderful countryside environment. This is about 3/4mile away from our Stables courtyard which is in the centre of the 650acre Kirkwood Estate. At the Courtyard, there is a small children's play area (swings etc), a games room with table tennis, darts and full sized snooker table, and a laundry room with extra freezer space.
    Lockerbie (4miles) is the nearest for shopping although Dalton (1m) has a pub/restaurant. Bigger shops at Dumfries (12m), Carlisle (25m) or both Edinburgh and Glasgow (about 75m). The Area is steeped in history with Castles, Country Houses, and Roman remains (Hadrians Wall) and many golf courses are locally. Weddings at the marriage capital of the World - Gretna Green - are only 15 miles away.

    The house is semi-detached within a popular residential area of kendal in close proximity to the town centre (10 minute walk). The property is two storey, it has 3 bedrooms (1 of which is a single guest rooms), a spacious living room and open plan kitchen/diner. The property has a bathroom with bath and separate shower and has an additional outside toilet downstairs. There is also a large storage facility for bikes and outdoor gear. Plenty of parking is available on our quiet residential street to the front of the property. There's lots of accomodating space and we have our own cat and dog.
    The house overlooks Sandylands Play Park and is right in the heart of the residential area. It is a very family orientated location with a large population of young families. Kendal is a small town which is ideally located to explore the Lake district national park. Within 10 minuets you can reach Keswick. There is lots to chose from there. Favourites include: Casa Bella - Italian, The Royal Oak - Good pub food, Woodstone - Best pizza in town & Morells - Best restaurant. In grange, next to the house, there is a lovely cafe which serves lunches and afternoon tea. There is also another cafe near the bridge as you drive into grange. Supermarkets: Co-op in Keswick is open Monday - Saturday 7am - 11pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm. Booths in Keswick is open Monday - Saturday 8am - 9pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm. Spar fuel station in Keswick is open everyday from 8am - 10pm. You can also get a food shop delivered from Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Perfect house to access various wainwright. Under 10 minuets to the bottom of Scafell Pike. From the house, you can walk mountains, lakes, rivers and woodlands.

    This beautiful barn conversion sits on top of Hadrian's Wall and is a great base for exploring the Lake district and Hadrian's Wall country. Nestled on a working farm surrounded by trees & fields. It even comes with its very own hot tub!
    The barn is situated on the edge of the village of Walton just a few miles from Brampton. It has a self contained large garden and its own hot tub which is for sole use by the occupants of the barn during their stay. It is always on and ready to go! The barn sits on the opposite side of the farm yard to our house, so you are private and secluded but we are close enough if you need us! Within the barn you will find an open plan living room & kitchen, which keeps everyone together whilst somebody is cooking or making a cup of tea! The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher & washing machine. The spacious, light and airy living room looks out through the massive glazed entrance with a view across the garden. Double doors from the living room lead you through to the sun room, where you can relax and unwind with beautiful views of the North Pennines. On the second floor you will find the bathroom and bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a whopping super king bed but it can be provided with 2 singles upon request. The second bedroom is a single room. The barn is heated using a biomass boiler which is located in the farmyard and provides heat for all the properties on the farm (don't worry we don't expect you to load it with logs while your here, we'll take care of that!) The outside area is where you will find the hot tub which is always on, we do have to change the water between guests so please bear in mind that it may still be heating up on the day you arrive. Whilst we do provide 1 bath towel per person it is always a good idea to bring an extra towel for the hot tub and some slip on shoes are handy to get too and from the tub. There is an outdoor table & chairs for a bit of alfresco dining too. From the garden you might be lucky enough to spot a squirrel or two hoping through the trees in the wood at the bottom of the garden. Or find a cheeky pheasant strolling across the lawn. You will have your own private undercover parking within the Barn's grounds. There is ample space for bicycles too! Walton is just a 5 minute stroll along the Hadrian's Wall path where you will find a great little playground & tea room. The small bustling town of Brampton is approx 3 miles away, there you will find local amenities Spar, Co-op, tourist information, an abundance of quirky little shops, pubs, cafe's & take away's.

    A twin room in a quiet cul-de-sac, on the Western edge of Carlisle, 1.1 miles outside the city centre (approx 25 minutes walk). The Cumbria Way and National Cycle Network Route 7 run directly behind the house. You’ll love my place because it's in a friendly neighbourhood and it has a countryside view. Also, I will provide breakfast. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, walkers, motorcyclists, cyclists and dogs.
    The room has twin single beds (if you prefer, these can be moved together), a bedside table, drawers and hanging space. The room looks out onto Cummersdale Holmes, which has a riverbank footpath and a countryside path that is regularly used by walkers, dog-walkers and cyclists. We've worked hard in recent years to make a number of minor and major improvements to our home. We're now very proud of it and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
    This is a terraced property in a suburban cul-de-sac on the Western edge of Carlisle. We are not in the middle of the countryside. However, as we are on the edge of town, there is plenty of countryside right outside our back door. There are riverside walks (alongside the River Caldew) and a country path - shared by walkers, dog-walkers and cyclists - directly behind the house. Please be aware that this property is 1.1 miles outside the city centre (approx 25 minutes walk). Although it is walkable, if you are looking for somewhere right on the doorstep of the city centre, this is not the property for you. Also, please note, if you are walking Hadrian's Wall, the nearest access point is 2.5 miles away. There are no buses that would drop you off directly at this access point and a taxi would cost you approx £7. Shops are 0.6-1.1 miles away (newsagents, Lidl and Aldi supermarkets, Co-op convenience store, takeaways, off-licence, cafes, cash machine). There is an Indian restaurant 0.6 miles away. The rest of the restaurants are in the city centre.

    There is plenty to see in the local area, we've prepared a large guide of recommend places to visit while you stay with us. Starting with the nearest first : The village has its own pub that serves food most evenings there is also a childrens play park behind the village hall and a football pitch to enjoy. Footpaths from the house lead down to the famous Settle to Carlisle railway or for nature lovers explore the extensive High Stand woodland and ponds with its Red squirrels, deer, woodpeckers and even occasional otter its a great place to explore by foot or on bike and its right on the doorstep. The peaceful Eden Valley with its picturesque riverside villages is definitely worth exploring (we have put in the guide some good walks that start and finish at a pub or cafe!) Hop in the car or use the local bus service and head into the border City of Carlisle. Carlisle is a historic walled city with a fascinating history . Being on the border with Scotland it has an exciting past and an award winning museum that tells the story. The pleasant City centre boasts plenty of shops, cafe's and restaurants with the backdrop of the impressive Cathedral and Castle. Head south and the beautiful Lake district and Keswick are less than 40 minutes away giving access to Englands highest fells for the energetic or enjoy the beauty from a gentle cruise on Ullswater or Derwent Water. (We know some good short walks with great views and a cafe!) Less than 20 minutes drive north and cross the border into Scotland - no passport required! Walk the stunning World heritage site Roman wall (Hadrian's wall) and explore the substantial roman remains that mark the boundary of the Empire. Once over the border visit the Designer Outlet village and pick up some bargains. (Nike / Ralph Lauren / Next / M+S/ Gap etc) Travel a bit further and you will discover the unspoilt Dumfries and Galloway coastline a real hidden gem (a favourite of our own - there is even a whiskey distillery with the best cafe around) Whatever the weather or time of year there is no shortage of activities in the surrounding area.

    The bedroom is a comfortable and stylish double room in a converted Methodist chapel. Guests have sole use of a unique, luxury bathroom with shower, Sauna and hot tub across the hall and access to a shared living room, kitchen and utilities. The views from the bedroom are across the valley to the West and we are located just a five minute walk from the village of Garrigill and off the Pennine way. We are also on the C2C cycleway, so a perfect place for treating those tired limbs to some TLC!
    Breakfast is not included in the price but you can prepare your own in our kitchen and store food in your own fridge. We will happily bring the shopping in for you if you don’t have your own transport. We do provide free tea and coffee facilities in your room. Our dog lives downstairs but we ask that you don't bring your own as we are keen to keep the guest areas free from dog hair. However, you will come into contact with her in the shared spaces and she does love a cuddle. The chapel is an ongoing renovation project and some areas may also have some dust, however the areas open to guests are clean and dust free. We are also happy to provide washing and drying facilities at a small extra charge as we understand how important this is after a long day on the hill or bike. There is a lockable indoor space for your bikes and car parking is on the quiet roadside directly outside the chapel.
    A beautiful waterfall flows directly outside the chapel and can be heard from most rooms. Garrigill, just five minutes walk away, is a quiet village with a shop and art gallery. At present the pub is undergoing renovation work but there are occasional pub nights in the village hall as well as other events. We are happy to provide transport to and from Alston if you travelled by foot or by bike. Alston itself is a bustling town with plentiful attractions, events, eateries, pubs and independent shops. Also, nearby Nenthead hosts a newly opened Arts and Visitor centre which has numerous events on throughout the year. Please note that phone signal in and around the village is limited although some providers do work in the chapel. We also have wifi but no working TV signal. The hosts are keen musicians and if you wish to make your own fun there are a plethora of musical instruments (some homemade) that you can play for the evenings entertainment.

    Fabulous walking or cycling from the door in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Trough of Bowland - a hidden gem of an area often overlooked due to its more famous neighbours the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District - but with easy access to both. Horse-riding available locally, great local country pubs with pub-grub within 1-2 miles. Peace, quiet, birdsong, absolutely no traffic noise and no light pollution in our hamlet - but only 15 mins drive from J34 of M6 - and 20 mins into centre of Lancaster with all the history and culture a city offers. We are 1m outside Wray village which has a shop/Post Office, pub and lovely riverside tea-shop/garden centre. Walkable in 20 mins from Garden Cottage.

    This house was built for a local iron ore mine in the 1890s. It looks out towards Ennerdale valley, in the Lake District Park, and a short path to the C2C cycleway. The location is quiet, with passing traffic for the farm only. Two double rooms, one with twin beds, are available, with a separate sitting room, with TV, for guests. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village and frequent buses to Whitehaven, on the coast. Well situated for walking, cycling or business in West Cumbria.
    Frizington is one of many villages in the west of Cumbria that thrived in the late 1800s and 1900s due to the rich mineral sources. Winder Gate is half a mile from the main village and was built as workers houses for Margaret Mine. From here it is a few miles into the National Park, but the roundabout road route takes 15-20 minutes, heading to the nearest valley, Ennerdale, and Ennerdale Lake, seven miles to walk around. South is Wasdale, where you can see the view voted the best in the country, looking up Wast Water, the deepest lake, towards the highest mountain in England and the smallest church. Nearby Eskdale has a steep windy route to the other side of the Lakes past a Roman hill fort. In Eskdale the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway runs small narrow-guage trains from the coast into the hills. In the other direction are the more visited Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere valleys, on the way towards Keswick, a bustling market town.

    Snowdrop House is our large detached family home in a quiet cul-de-sac in Penrith. Lottie's room is a private room on the first floor of our property, and is a spacious room with en suite facilities. The room can be set up in a variety of options. A spacious double or twin. A family room with an additional bed, or as a triple room. A light breakfast can be arranged prior to your stay at a small extra cost.     The room is on the first floor of our home. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the room. We are situated within one minute of the M6/A66 intersection, so perfect for a stay on route North, South, East or West. We are a five minute walk from the train station on the West Coast line. We are ideally located on the cycling roues, C2C, John O Groats to Lands End and The Eden Valley cycle route Penrith town centre is a ten minute walk with a selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes. Our home overlooks the North Lakes Hotel and the Lake District fells beyond. We are also close (2 minute walk) to Cranstons, an award winning Cumbrian food hall, famous for its Cumberland sausage - the cafe is a great option for a traditional Cumbrian breakfast Rheged discovery centre is an all weather visitor attraction with shops, cinema and food. The famous Knit and Stitch show is held here annually, along with Cumbria Life Home and Garden Show We are centrally located in the Eden Valley. We are five miles from Lake Ullswater and Pooley Bridge Carlisle and Kendal are a thirty minute drive from Penrith We have available a selection of refreshments and sweet treats, much needed after a long day walking or cycling. We have secure storage for bikes We do not allow pets, we do however have a friendly cat called Tim
    There is plenty to do in and around Penrith, whether you stay for a few days, or one night only. Cranston's food hall two minute walk and is a great option to eat and shop, offering local produce. English heritage sites close by, Penrith Castle is within walking distance, the ruins are situated in the local park. Mayburgh Henge, Brougham Castle and King Arthur's Round table are all within driving distance. Lowther Castle and Gardens is a ten minute drive away. It was voted large visitor attraction of the year in 2018 in the Cumbrian Tourism Awards. "Dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens, an adventure playground to rival the best in the land.     My home is situated in the town of Kendal, known as the gateway to the lakedistrict. But before you advanger up into the lakes ,just take a little bit of time to look round my lovely town. Great little walks up river kent or to Kendal castle or walk into the town to enjoy the cafes or pubs
    My home is just 10min walk into kendal town centre and is close to a bus stop to catch bus into town or a bus up into the lakes. The Bedroom you will be staying in is cosy. It is a small double just to let you know but very comfortable. Bathroom is toilet,shower and sink, no bath..There is a kettle,coffee,tea provided in the bedroom, but I am happy for you to use the kitchen during your stay.You would be sharing with other guests who are staying in my home as well and my lovely dog woody who is very friendly and quiet. He is a cocker spaniel

    This 500 year old cottage forms part of Knockburn Farm and is well appointed -with an alpine feel and attention to detail, country themed with quality woollen throws, sheepskin rugs, animal printed stools and accessories with wall,ceiling and table lighting for soft ambiance. The light and spacious hallway - offers an area to retreat with side and cocktail tables and 2 chairs, ice bucket and candles to sit and enjoy the stunning views to the hills and heather covered Dales, mature trees and the fields that surround. The open plan living/ dining/kitchen area has a log burning stove, an excellent range of crockery, quality glassware, cutlery, fabric napkins, place mats, serving plates and bowls. The kitchen has a modern Electric hob and oven, pans for steam cooking & baking trays/scales etc, children and adult aprons, thermos flask, large fridge/freezer, microwave, cafetiere. The sitting room area has 2 modern comfy sprung sofas, log coffee tables, Modern slimline wall mounted TV, SKY TV,DVD player and range of films and children dvd's, board games, a range of books to browse and a basket and booklet filled with information on nearby attractions and events. The main bedroom has a De-luxe coil sprung double bed with cushions, feather and down duvet and pillows, full length mirror, cupboard/draws and shirt length wardrobe, side tables and wall lights/ ceiling spots, hairdryer and internal window through the hallway -which gives views from the bedroom of the garden and hills. The warm, all white bathroom has been decorated in a themed style, mosaic glass fish tiles and mirror, wall and ceiling lighting, the bath and shower offer alternative ways to relax.     No need to get back in your car once you arrive, we are surrounded by streams, rivers, waterfalls, woods, open fields and The Dales. In the book - 501 wild places to visit - the one of the walks is the Sir Isacc Tea trail, which runs behind the cottage grounds - it truly is in an area which has rightly been designated as AONB - (an area of outstanding natural beauty.)

  • Vi hade en trevlig tid i Julias stuga. Det ligger i ett vackert område och nära Hadrians vägg och Hexham Abbey. Du kan gå rakt in i dalarna från stugan, med vacker utsikt! Den lilla stugan är en del av Julia hus, och är väldigt snygg och elegant inredd för att rymma bara fyra personer.
