“A lovely seaside village with great cafes/restaurants/boutique shopping and only a short ferry ride to Auckland City. Climb North Head for some great views of Auckland or just have a lovely walk along the waterfront. Dating from 1800's Devonport is one of Auckland's most historically authentic villages and well worth a visit. Check out www.visitdevonport.co.nz for Official Tourist and Holiday Information.”

“Stunning views of Auckland city and Auckland harbour, this lovely park has walks, history and geography - great for families, individuals, couples. Not good for wheelchair access but ok for a mountain buggy for young ones. Guests can explore the tunnels free of charge (take your cell phone for a torch), walk around the numerous walking trails, discover a private beach or two, occasionally see a NZ fur seal or little blue penguin and even take some cardboard (your host might have some if you ask) and get the kids to slide down the grassy slopes - great fun for toddlers through to teens.”

“Mount Victoria is lovely spot that provides great views of the Auckland Isthmus. There is a relief map at the top that will help you find key points around Auckland. A short drive to Devonport which is a lovely see-side settlement and has the nearby maritime museum. Of course, you can take the ferry across to Devonport from the city. ”

History Museum
“Take in the free Navy museum that charts NZ's naval history. Walk around North Head to get to it if you are feeling active or alternatively park right outside. There is a nice little cafe there which is very child friendly. ”

“Need to get to Auckland City? Why not go there by sea. This lovely, short boat ride gives you awesome views of Auckland Harbour and stops at the port at the foot of Queen Street (Auckland's main city / CBD street). Ferry leaves every 10 - 15 minutes.”

“This is the best beach in Auckland. There are no roads along the beach only houses so it is very quiet. Great for swimming two hours either side of high tide, and at low tide you can walk out among the sand pools and see what you can spot. Walk along the beach from Bath street and up and around the mountain at the end North Head. Amazing views. ”
