Marvels of Rome Walking Tour
Rome is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque cities in the world to explore. Join me on an enchanting stroll through the city center as we visit some of the major sights that you really shouldn’t miss, plus some of my favourite hidden gems. My route is carefully curated and I make sure to take characteristic little back alleys that few venture down. Expect: * Hidden gems * Expert knowledge * Unbeatable value! We meet at the base of Trajan’s Column, next to the Venice Square (Piazza Venezia), in the real heart of the Eternal city. After getting to know each other, I will begin to explain the ancient Imperial Forums, the unification of Italy and the rebirth of Rome during the Renaissance. The Trevi Fountain attracts millions of visitors every year and with me you will find out why! Admire its beauty as I give you the full story behind the fountain and we get to the bottom of the coin-throwing tradition. The next stop will be in Piazza della Rotunda, the location of the world-famous Pantheon. Experience this most important of Rome’s pagan temples and discover its 2000 years of history. We save the best till last: Piazza Navona, which is by far the most elaborate of Rome’s squares. Absorb the ambiance as we get into the rivalry between the artists whose works have defined the beauty of this square. Maximum 15 people

Handgjord pasta med mormor
Cook with the best Italian chefs ever: obviously our grandmas, the Nonnas from Palombara! The grannies of our small village will show you how to prepare the perfect handmade pasta—no machines, just your hands, the freshest local ingredients, and love. All of these women started to make pasta in their childhood, keeping alive a tradition that is slowly disappearing. And they are ready to pass it to you! You’ll be part of our crazy big family for a day and join us as we walk the tiny medieval streets of Palombara Sabina to Grandma’s kitchen, located in the old winepress where our great-grandpas used to make wine that the community tapped straight from the barrel (or in Grandma's home... according to the weather). It's a special place for our family and the entire village. We will cook Ravioli, Fettuccine and Farfalle... you will be in a food coma at the end of the experience! Nonna Angela, Nonna Lalla, Nonna Renzia, Nonna Gio, Nonna Marisa are waiting for you!!! Mangia mangia!!! In loving memory of Nonna Nerina. For all the times you fed us, for your love, for all the hugs you gave to thousands of travelers from all over the world. This is your legacy. We love you, forever.

(www.instagram.com/romarafting) We will meet in the heart of Rome - near Piazza del Popolo, where I will have the pleasure, 5 min. walking, to take you to the boarding point at Scalo de Pinedo on the Tiber. Here we will find all the technical equipment, life jacket, helmet and of course our inflatable boat. After a briefing on the ground and after wearing our equipment we'll embark and our adventure begins! By navigating I will tell you some interesting aspect about the history of Rome. We will move gently on the waters of the Tiber, we'll pass under Castel St. Angelo where we'll approach and take a break to rest and take special pictures. Then we'll continue our descent along the Trastevere district, whose quays overlooking the river in the summer fill up with activities of the Roman nightlife, up to the Tiber Island (the only river island in Rome). Here we will face real and fun rapids! After the rapids we will make another stop, if the river level allows it, and you'll have the opportunity to visit the Island. The last stretch of river will lead us to the landing. Here before leaving you, with a short walk, we'll reach a nice place where I will have the pleasure to offer you a typical snack & drink. Other things to note The tour will end in Trastevere, after offering you a typical local snack. You will not be returned to Piazza del Popolo, because the operations of recovery of the boat could take a long time.

Ostia Antica The Hidden City
Ostia Antica is a stunningly preserved ancient Roman city—one of the best in Italy. During our time together, I will bring the ancient city to life as we pick our way through 2000-year-old apartment complexes, visit a bygone restaurant, and learn about bizarre religious cults. Why Ostia Antica instead of Pompeii? There are three reasons, 1) Ostia it's much closer and easier to visit (25-minute train ride); 2) Ostia is a better example of a real, working class town than Pompeii; 3) visiting Ostia has a lower carbon footprint than visiting Pompeii, and given the crowds at the latter and general "undiscovered" feeling of the former, it's a more enjoyable, enriching experience. We begin our Ostia Antica Tour in Rome, at Piramide Metro B station, with a short 25 minutes train ride toward the Mediterranean sea. Along the way, I will discuss the regional geography of the area, Ostia's role as Rome's port, and the historic background leading up to the town's rise in the Imperial era. On site, we will spend 2,5 hours combing through the ruins, which include some of the best examples of baths, a fantastic amphitheater, and several Mithraic temples, not to mention a forum with temples. Tickets not included please see notes Other things to note Train ticket costs 1,5 € one way. Train ride is less than 30 minutes. Entrance fee to the park is 12€ (under 18 is free, ID required).
Steampunk Archaeology
Imagine an alternative present, a world of coal and steel, where monocled archaeologists rend the ground with blackened steam-shovels, and clockwork automata sift through marble fragments in search of forgotten treasures... Only one place in the world comes close to this steampunk fantasy, one of Rome's most unforgettable museums: Centrale Montemartini. Housed in a decommissioned thermoelectric plant in the post-industrial neighborhood of Garbatella, it contains an incredible (and seldom visited) collections of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. White marble against black iron; graceful goddesses framed by massive turbines; the stately monuments of Imperial Rome set against the hulking relics of industrial capitalism. The whole complex is one of the most disorienting, unexpected and awe-inspiring sites in Italy. Centrale Montemartini is a satellite collection of the famous Musei Capitolini, housing some of the more recent and incredible finds that couldn't fit in the main museum. On our visit we'll see some of the most beautiful and powerful works of art to survive from the ancient world, including colossal statues of gods, portraits of emperors, as well as mosaics, tombs and paintings. We'll also do a bit of "Industrial Archaeology", checking out the innards of this 20th Century relic. Make sure to bring your camera! There are some incredible photo opportunities.
