Dante Alighieri tomb in Ravenna. Ravenna, in it's history, has been capital three times: of the Western Roman Empire (402-476), of the Kingdom of the Ostrogoths (493-553) and of the Byzantine Exarchate (568-751). For the vestiges of this luminous past, the complex of the first Christian monuments of Ravenna is included, since 1996, in the list of Italian heritage sites by UNESCO, as a serial site "Early Christian monuments of Ravenna". In addition to Dante's tomb you can find many famous and unique churches (San Francesco, Sant'Appollinare and San Vitale) and the mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the mausoleum of Teodorico.

Dante Alighieri tomb in Ravenna. Ravenna, in it's history, has been capital three times: of the Western Roman Empire (402-476), of the Kingdom of the Ostrogoths (493-553) and of the Byzantine Exarchate (568-751). For the vestiges of this luminous past, the complex of the first Christian monuments of Ravenna is included, since 1996, in the list of Italian heritage sites by UNESCO, as a serial site "Early Christian monuments of Ravenna". Comacchio

Comacchio it originates about two thousand years ago, during its history it was subjected to the power of the first Exarchate of Ravenna, the Duchy of Ferrara later, then return to be part of the territories of the Papal State.The etymology of the name is uncertain (Greek-Latin cumaculum = "small wave"; "grouping of bumps" in Etruscan). The foundation is attributed to the Etruscans, who were already settled in the Po Delta. Near Comacchio there was in fact the Etruscan city of Spina. Built on the union of thirteen small islands (coastal dune stretches) formed by the intersection of the mouth of the Po. Very interesting it's the Museo del Delta Antico.

Very interesting to visit also for the medieval festivals (normally on the start fo June).
