Hiking

when I came out here on vacation my friend, a resident, told me that I needed to do the incline. I put it off till the last day thinking it would be nothing. After attempting, and failing, I went back home exhilarated from the Rush. all I could talk for the next month was coming back and making it to the top. I no longer wanted to move to florida, I was moving to Colorado springs. My first few years here I did the incline about 150 times. This is not something to be taken lightly. But, if you are coming here for hiking, its certainly worth the attempt. My ex husband made it to the top his first time as do many others. Everyone has a different adjustment period to altitude so just because I couldn't make it on my vacation, doesn't mean you won't. Give yourself plenty of time (2-3 hours if need be), hydrate well the day before, bring water and a salty snack, and be a tortoise (not a hare). This is, undoubtedly the toughest .87 mile you will ever do.
