From the apartment, you can take a BUS to Triemilispital and a train that takes you all the way to the top of Uetliberg from there. I can highly recommend going on a small hike from there. If you are not afraid of cable cars, there is a wonderful hike from the platform to Felsenegg, where you can take the cable car back down. (Happy to provide info for good cake or drinks along the way)

Take the ship that tours the Zürich lake
It costs only as much as a regular public transport fare and you'll get to see some of the smaller towns bordering the lake. Rapperswill has some interesting old buildings and cute sceneries.
