THINGS TO SEE + DO AROUND SEA SURGE

Good Beaches (with a walk or two thrown in)

Great expanisve sands with a little cafe, bar, small amusements and village shop too! It can get quite busy in the summer but is lovely for early mornings + evening visits - we highly recommend walking to the right a little way as soon as you hit the sand - the wander away from the crowds is well worth it! If you're in the mood for a stroll (hearty walk) you can follow the Norfolk Coast Path from the door of the cottage to Sea Palling - it's a quiet and peaceful walk and a good way to stretch the legs.

A pretty coastal village dotted with the traditional flint houses of the Norfolk Coast, we recommend walking from the cottage along the Norfolk Coast Path (up to Cart Gap, along Doggets Lane and across the cliffs) to Happisburgh. You can keep walking past this historic village and keep on along the Coast Path or stop and meander - the village only has (so they say) 20+ years left, before the North sea finally takes it away. The beach is lovely here and does offer peace away from the jet skis at Cart Gap.

Just over the dunes from the cottage is Eccles beach (your local) if the tide is in, we recommend strolling to the right once your over the top - the beach widens out and it's nice a quiet too! - if the tide is out however, just dump your towels and run straight in (if you're feeling brave)!

The whole stretch of coast here is known for it's Seals - but Horsey beach is particularly well known for them! Whilst you can find them all year round, its the winter months when you see them at their cutest - from early November through to January when you can view them from a safe distance, in designated areas, on the beaches at Horsey. PLEASE make yourself familiar with the 'Friends of Horsey Seals' website for guidance and important advice on how to view these seals safely (for their sake).

A tiny village with a good pub. Lovely food and good beer garden to boot - 'The Lessingham Star', its walkable from the cottage (about a 30 minute stroll / 1.5 miles along quiet lanes and footpaths).
