The Schuylkill (pronounced skoo-kull) River Trail is one of the city's gems. Just 1/2 a mile away, you can head up 22nd St. and take a left onto South St. At the bridge, you'll find a set of stairs (south side) or a ramp (north side) down to the trail, which you can follow for 11 miles up to Valley Forge.

Bike, walk, picnic, play, or just lounge in this enormous 4100 acre park, which you can access via the Schuylkill River Trail (see separate description). While there, be sure to glimpse the Fairmount Water Works and iconic Boathouse Row.

Across the street from this grocery store on 23rd and South St is an Indego bike share station. Rent a bike for $4/30min, head west to the South St. Bridge, and cruise up the scenic Schuylkill River. You can conveniently return the bike to any number of stations (https://www.rideindego.com/stations/), including ones at the Philadelphia Art Museum or Franklin Institute.
