Bike or hike the Dequindre Cut. It's an old rail-line that got updated. Really beautiful murals and it lets you off right at Eastern Market. You can rent bikes (or segways) close to the riverfront.

I love it here. It's about an hour or two outside of Detroit by car. Great, gorgeous, lakeside camping. Views as good as the ocean, except with fewer people. Love it. (Wine country for adults!)
