Great pizza and sandwiches. Free refills on the delicious drinks -- just ask! The outdoor seating rocks on warm days. Heated lamps on cold days. A unique experience in Bayview.

Ritual Roasters is located inside Flora Grubb Gardens. Ritual's been my go-to coffee shop for close to a decade if not more. Consistently awesome coffee served with a smile. You would not expect to find such good coffee in this street of warehouses and auto mechanics.

This old school convenience store has been in the Bayview for over 50 years. They pack on the meat and fixings onto the delicious sandwiches and charge rock bottom prices. Place is still run by the same Italian family after all these years. If you're in a hurry, grab a pre-made and they will slather the mayo and mustard for you. If you want to wait, they'll get it to you quick.

[Unfortunately, this Javalencia location is now closed.] Nice little coffee shop with two other locations downtown. They offer solid coffee, bagels, pastries, sandwiches, smoothies and probably other stuff.

Central American restaurant with quite tasty pupusas. Has a hole-in-the-wall type of feel but the food is tasty and that's what matters (prices are also reasonable, which is a plus).

This place is open late. Pizza, burgers, and sandwiches. It's nothing to write home about and there's really not much seating, but when you're hungry and it's late -- pizza zone n grill always hits the spot. I used to frequent their other location in the Mission all the time (I used to live within walking distance). They seem to follow me where ever I move!

I heard that the chicken here is out of this world, but probably not very good for you, so I haven't tried it yet. It's a nationwide chain and the concept is a bit unusual. They are located within grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores.

Tato is just down the block and the newest addition to the local food scene. Tato takes top notch ingredients and offers Mexican-inspired creations at extremely affordable prices. The owner is nice and the space has these wonderful little touches that just accentuates the whole delicious experience. Don’t forget the Taco Tuesday deals!

Step out of your comfort zone and enjoy some gourmet comfort food inspired by Ethiopian ingredients. For the uninitiated, Ethiopian food is a diverse mix of flavors that centers around teff and injera (although I don’t think Radio Africa serves injera on a regular basis or at all). Radio Africa does sort of a more contemporary take and incorporates a lot of Western ingredients and cooking styles. Regardless, you’ll definitely come back for more.

Run by at-risk youth, the place serves delectable soul food. Old Skool Cafe has received numerous awards for its work in the community and critical acclaim for its food. An experience not to be missed.

When you feel like you need some consistency, some Frappuccino-like consistency, you know this is the only place to go, despite your aversion to chains and weak coffee. Located next to a Wells-Fargo in a dated shopping plaza, this Starbucks is comparatively spacious, but it's mostly grab-and-go. You won't see many techbros immersed in their Apple notebooks here.

Excellent Hawaiian food prepared by folks who were formerly gang members and criminals and they live like a family upstairs. "Huli" means "turn" in Hawaiian. Huli Huli chicken is grilled chicken "turned" halfway through cooking. Folks at Huli Huli are "turning" their lives around. Very meaningful but the hours are not the greatest. They close early and are closed weekends.

Shopping
This is such a great place for all kinds of plants. It is a bustling shop that has tons of traffic because their selection is so expansive and the environment is set up so nicely. One of the Bayview's crown jewels. Ritual Roasters, one of San Francisco's beloved coffee shops, has a presence inside.

Bay Natives is true to its name -- it sells all kinds of plants that are native to the SF Bay Area. An added treat (for kids and adults) is that it houses chickens that roam free throughout the nursery! And it also houses the City Grazing goats -- a bunch of goats that you can rent out to eat up the weeds in your backyard and fertilize your soil naturally! You can feed the goats some branches and stuff. Check them out!

Essentials
[Unfortunately, this Duc Loi location is now closed!!] Duc Loi is such an incredible market. Their main location has thrived for years in the Mission, where I lived before recently relocating to the Bayview. They have a wide variety of organic fruits and vegetables, local Bayview pasta and sausages, Vietnamese sandwiches and lunchboxes, select Oriental foodstuffs, among other things. They also have a Peet's coffee inside and a parking garage underneath the store. It's this undiscovered secret hiding right beneath our noses in the Bayview!

It's a neighborhood grocery store with just about everything you need. There's even a parking lot, but don't expect anything fancy. I hear the Krispy Krunch Fried Chicken they have in there is mind blowing, but probably not very good for you so I haven't tried it yet.

Drinks & Nightlife
Another unique business in the Bayview. As the name suggests, SF Mead Company is a meadery. Yes, the company produces mead -- the stuff from ancient times, the drink of warriors and gods. See how the stuff is made by going on a tour of the small meadery, have a taste, and bring a bottle home.

Tucked in an industrial part of the neighborhood, Laughing Monk always has special events throughout the month, pairing unlikely things like Yoga and Beer. They have a ton of different beers and partners up with local food vendors to provide food. Very awesome addition to the Bayview.

This place closed down earlier this year due to financial troubles, but was snatched up by an investor and is now back in business. The taproom should be up and running soon. By the time you read this, it should be ready again. Big Daddy IPA and Prohibition Ale are some of their most famous brews.

A somewhat isolated park. There is a grassy area, a small playground, and a tranquil view of the Bay. You're likely to be one of only a few people here. There's a trail from this park along the shore to Heron's Head Park. A nice hike if you're up for it.

Like its name implies, Hilltop Park is on top of the hill. There's a playground for kids, a skate park, a sundial, exercise equipment, and other neat stuff. Because of its location, it is a bit isolated and most of the people who frequent the park live nearby. You get a very expansive view of the Bay up here.
