Just a short drive from Donaghadee (towards Belfast) you will find Bangor, a once bustling seaside town, that offers great coastal walks and views. Favourite is the coastal path to Holywood- best starting point for an easy walk is Bangor shore front, you can take the coastal path, enjoy a finishing bite to eat or drink at The Dirty Duck and then catch the train back to Bangor to pick up the car!

Another village, either a short drive or enjoyable walk away is Groomsport. With public tennis courts (subject to Covid regulations at present), a kids play park, great beach, small harbour and a good local pub. The perfect quiet stop off.

Newtownards is a bustling town, with a great Saturday market for local produce, and regularly has a baker making fresh Irish breads! Scrabo tower is great for a light hike for views over Strangford lough and they have a great new leisure centre (bookings required due to Covid restrictions at present). Shopping centre and cinema complex.
