And I'm right, because I see Vietnamese people going there go. - 日本清華軒, a Japanese chef that invented a unique rice + noodles cuisine. Its dishes are MSG free. Very popular, very affordable and tasty. Avoid the peak time (12.30) if you don't want to wait for ages.

See this Family Mart near Starbucks, McDonalds, etc? Forget about them, turn around the Family Mart corner, and you'll see a "Lavazza" sign. That's my favourite cafe in Beitou. Very small, family run, it has a selection of sweet dessert that can go with your Lavazza coffe.

This is the best Waffle in Taipei, inside the beautiful NTU campus. Avoid peak times (around 5.30-6.00pm).
But don't buy the coffee here, turn around, walk 50 m and go to the NTU products outlet, and get a great (yet affordable) coffee there.
If the weather is nice, you can enjoy your coffee and waffle on the outdoor tables nearby.
If it's morning I highly recommend getting a spring roll or two at "无名排队盐水鸡摊" (see in this guide).

The Taipei 101 is the symbol of the city, a huge yet beautiful structure in the heart of the financial district. On the lower floors there are luxury shops, and on the top an accessible observatory.
The observatory, besides offering a stunning view, also provides information on the history of the various districts of Taipei.
I would recommend a visit in the morning, when the sky is more likely to be clear, or during the sunset, to enjoy the transition.

Just outside Taipei, near the interesting hot spring town of Beitou, a conveniently linked national park. It has hot springs, and many hiking trails. From the Seven Star mountain the view is quite impressive, provided the weather is clear.

In the weekends, it explodes in it's full potential, with the addition of hundreds of second hand flea vendors, selling from precious antiques, rare tea varieties, to almost garbage stuff. A very folkloric site, well worth a visit for it's human and merchandise variety.
There are a few food stalls if you want to have an adventurous lunch there.
Open every day except Monday, running from early morning (5 am maybe) to 12-12.30.

The "Shibuya" of Taipei, a pedestrian district housing clothing and accessories shops, restaurants, bar, cinemas, street artists and street performances. Half way between a history museum and an art collection, it displays in fact a big part of the personal collection of the late Chinese emperors. Impressive bronze ceremonial cauldrons, jades, ceramics, paintings, incredible sculptures. Plus temporary exhibitions. If you're up for a thorough visit, it will easily take the whole day. I recommend to arrive in the morning, and bring lot of clothing, even in summer, as you may stay for several hours in a heavily air conditioned environment.
