Vail valley has a series of villages that each have their own charm and provide a variety of services.
Along the Eagle River in Edwards, just 15 minutes east of us, you will find restaurants, gas stations, a lot of shops and other services. Nice for a stroll or to get a feel for the local culture outside of the ski resorts.

Short drives to see historical mining towns and enjoy what they have to offer.
Adorable old mining town, with restaurants and shops and an historic saloon. Easy to reach in winter or summer and worth the visit. The opposite of Vail and Beaver Creek, with a Saturday farmer's market in the summer.

Once you finish one of the most scenic drives in the area, you end up in adorable Glenwood Springs. Shopping, dining, bars, history and 2 hot springs. Plus an amusement park the kids will love, complete with 2 cave tours. So much to do and see.

Leadville, an historic mining town, set amongst the highest mountains in the state. With fun restaurants, unique shopping and history surrounding you, this spot has it all. Even a train ride! Best for a summer visit, unless you have great winter tires and are unafraid of winter driving in the mountains. The elevation is 10K+ so if you are suffering from the altitude, don't head to Leadville.

Memory making activities
An hours drive ( or less) and worth the trip, these are spots we recommend for making holiday memories.
Romantic for you and fun for the kiddos. Watch for Bald Eagles flying along the Colorado River overhead, soak in the healing waters. Food and beverages are available on-site. Reservations are a super good idea.

Dog sledding is so much fun for the whole family, but heads up it's and expensive ride, so be prepared. Give them a call as you will definitely need reservations. Also try Winterhawk dogsledding in Leadville.
