Sights, places to visit, things to do, places to eat and drink.
The old part of Marbella is well worth visiting. The Plaza de Los Naranjos in particular, with it's cobbled streets, where you will find many restaurants and bars, plus the Town Hall and a very small and old church (Ermita de Santiago).

Exquisite views towards Gibraltar. Expensive and upscale restaurant. Worth a visit for just a drink unless you feel rich and want to eat in the restaurant!

Amazing vistas all around looking down into the valley. It as one of Spain's oldest bullrings, although it is outwardly impressive, the inside isn't worth paying the entry fee for. Under the title San Roque, I have mentioned the train from there to Ronda, which is magnificent. I would suggest that you come up by train and return to Marbella by bus, arriving in Marbella at the central bus station.

Up and coming area with an excellent promenade by the beach. The town itself has a recent addition of a raised walkway, which is close to the entrance to the main pedestrian street of Avenida Las Palmiras, which in turn leads you to the main square, which is dominated by the church (Parroquia San Pedro de Alcantara).

Beautiful original Marbella Hotel with 2 restaurants. One inside the hotel, located next to the inside and outside bars, the latter bar being in the luxurious grounds of the hotel. The second restaurant is a short walk towards the beach and is in a secluded and private area next to the outside swimming pool.

Excellent local restaurant and bar, with quite cheap food and drinks. Mostly Spanish spoken. Attentive service. Their 'Menu del Dia' is great value.

Although entering and exiting Gibraltar an sometimes be a lengthy process, I would suggest going at the weekend when office workers are not there. It as low tax shopping British Overseas Territory, so many things are cheaper than in Spain, luxury items, alcohol, tobacco and fuel in particular. A trip to the top of the Rock, is a rewarding experience with it's views towards Morocco and over mainland Spain. Towards the top, you will come across many Barbary Macaques (a type of ape). Do not feed them. Remember to take your passports with you.

Any trip to this area has to include a visit here, but I would suggest making it a daytime one. The Port has many Superyachts and 'Gin Palaces' motor boats owned by the rich and famous including the King and Princes of Saudi Arabia. It is expensive compared to nearby areas though. My suggestion would to not bother to go later at night, as thieves, pickpockets, drunks and drugs abound. Night time has been a salutary lesson for some people. Be careful if you do venture there at night, particularly after midnight.

This is a traditional outdoor market which sells a range of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers and plants. It also sells cheaper clothing for women, men and children and a vast array of leather goods. There are also stalls selling colourful ceramics and others selling cd's and dvd's (mainly Spanish), watches, kitchen appliances and cotton tablecloths etc.

I recommend his area for it's Saturday market. Unlike the San Pedro market, it does not sell fresh fruit and vegetables, but sells most other things, including works of art and furniture.

Top rated Golf Club in this area, where the Andalucian Golf Championship often takes place (alternating with Valderrama, near Sotogrande I think). Fabulous views across the golf course towards Aloha Pueblo.
