One of the closest restaurants to Bear's Crossing for traditional, slightly upscale VT Tavern Dining. Good mix of VT staples and some more modern offerings. A bit more upscale in the dining room and bar side is more casual.

Nice mountain pub was a simple menu, but surprisingly good bar food. They have a backyard now with fire tables and a deck by the river now. Perfect place for a casual night out with friends or family.

Awesome spot, but not always open and closes for a lot of private events. The new owners took over during covid, so they are getting better with marketing and more organized. Beautiful Restaurant and good food. They have a speak easy and sometimes do an après ski food and drink menu. Reach out to for private events too!

Amazing baked goods! I don't even know how they do such a big variety in such a small town. I prefer to Sticky Fingers is you're heading to Wilmington or up for the drive. Serve 1A Coffee.

Love their Coffee (coming from a past NYC Coffee Snob)! Keep some local baked goods and bagels, but really focused on their coffee and not much of an area to sit. Close by Starfire bakery and Central Roost if you're looking for food to go.

Closed a lot, so call ahead. Always have a good time here! Nice casual dining, good atmosphere, solid food and have a nice outdoor area overlooking the river with Fire Tables in the summer.

(Took over for Dover Forged) - Great backyard area with music and games in the summer. Pool tables and lots of TVs. I've been once since they opened and my expereince was eh. They were fairly new, but it was a little hectic and it's a popular place. Good to get there early during ski season!

Great spot for a night out without kids. Part of the private ski resort, but the inn is open to the public. Nice wine list and fresh ingredients. On par with Folly, Saw Mill and Two Tannery for a nice date night or out with a small group that likes to dine.

Neighborhoods
Great small town 10-15 mins from Bear's Crossing. Quinesential New England Town with Restaurants, coffee shops, art studios and gift shops. West Dover is more spread out, but Wilmington is easy to park and walk most of the town. Also right on Route 9, so easy to get to Brattleboro to the west or Bennington to the east.

Check out The Top of The Grill, The Food Co-op, Mocha Joes Coffee, Hermit Thrush Brewery (if you like sour beers), Grafton Cheese Shop, Saxton Distillery and Fire Arts Glass Blowing and Pottery. I love Brattleboro and the surounding area. Really a go-to place when we're bored and want to get out of West Dover.

Robert has had his glass blowing studio in his barn in his home for decades. Not your traditional spot, but a great place to get your hands dirty with some glass blowing. I've been once so far and plan to head back. There are other places closer, but enjoy that there is not a set schedule. Just call up, talk to Bob and set an appointment.

Definitely stop for a beer and view if that's your jam though.

New to Wilmington. I love their beers! I haven't been since they took over, but have been in with the old owners and it's a cool, rustic spot on the river. Look forward to stopping by and will update from there!

Great swimming hole under the falls in Putney. A bit of a ride from West Dover (about an hr), but great for a day trip and a hidden gem.

Nice summer day trip. Interesting place to go swimming and cool off on a hot day. Be warned, the water is always quite crisp!
