Big outdoor area; monthly reading series; cheap beers; burgers and milkshakes; dogs allowed. This is the original bar in the area and although Franklin is now filled with bars, we'll never forget the original Franklin Bar.

Getting Around
The 2 and 5 train depart from the President Street subway station on President and Nostrand, just a block away from the apartment.
The 2 runs local in Brooklyn and express in Manhattan along the West Side, so best for trips to Times Square, Penn Station, Soho and the Upper West Side. The 2 also runs late at night.
The 5 runs express in Brooklyn and Manhattan along the east side, so best for trips to Greenwich Village, Union Square, Grand Central Station and the Upper East Side. The 5 does not run on late nights or weekends; so you'll need to take the 4 train; which runs local on late nights to Nostrand Avenue just another 2 blocks away; or if it's running express, such as weekends, you can take it to Franklin Avenue and switch there to a 2 train - or even walk, it's just ten minutes away.

Arlynne's laundromat is just around the corner, across the street in both directions. It's a local hangout spot, filled with huge, fast machines for great prices (they all take 27 minutes, even the huge triple loader). Arlynne is friendly, helpful and like a mom to me, always happy to exchange quarters. The discount stores next door are easy places to buy detergent, and there's wifi to use while you wait!

This is my favorite yoga studio in the area and great for drop-in class while you're visiting. Jyll, the owner, is fabulous and doesn't just teach yoga, but a way of life that is open, positive, hard-working and determined to live your best life.
