Only about an hour by car or a 1:30 hour bus ride from Medellin, this is an amazing colorful town near a lake where you can easily spend a night or two for its nature and outdoor activities to experience a small town in Colombia. I have a driver with either a sedan or a van that can arrange a tour for you.

This is not just where you can go to watch the soccer matches in Medellin, but also next to it, there is a huge sports complex, including a running track and swimming pools that you can actually use. for details you need to go there and ask the receptions of each facility about hours and entrance fees.

Cerro El Volador Natural Park
Awesome hike from Estadio. this is a really cool park with steps that take you to the best viewpoint around with 360 views of the whole city. the area around the park is a bit sketchy, so only go during the day from 9am to 5pm, don't take valuables with you generally out anywhere specially here.
possibly the best hike in Medellin with the most amazing views of the city. People go there to exercise at the top. go before sunset.

This is, in my opinion, the number 1 thing to do to get a feel for where the city is located. it is a little tricky to get there as you would have to use the metro, change lines, and connect to the metro cable. But if you are up for the adventure, it is well worth it. you will go through the barrios of Medellin, where the poorer part of the Medellin is. However, it is very beautiful, and you will see how the majority of the people actually live in Medellin. then you get to the park at about 2800 meters above sea level, and you can spend hours and hours walking and hiking in this park, and you can even rent horses and ride them with the guide.

This is a very cool university with a huge campus. You can actually go inside with an ID and check it out. Sometimes they even have free Spanish classes, or you can sign up for any classes you like. you can also qualify for a student visa if you sign up for a certain number of hours of any course such as Spanish.
