This is a great place for a family visit or a historical look into how families and people lived in the mining times. There is a lovely tram ride and visitors centre. There are houses set up which shows you how people lived and worked in the mining times and a trip down into the mines. Guides available. Lovely cafe. There is a lovely swing park and nice walks.

Heritage WayThis is a great place for a family visit or a historical look into how families and people lived in the mining times. There is a lovely tram ride and visitors centre. There are houses set up which shows you how people lived and worked in the mining times and a trip down into the mines. Guides available. Lovely cafe. There is a lovely swing park and nice walks.
Fantastic day out. The castle worth a visit along with numerous shops, restaurants and bars along the famous Prince's Street. Approximately 69 mins from our local train station. A return ticket after 9am is £13, there may be discounted family tickets, or further discounts if you have a rail card.

Birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Great history tour. Wallace Monument close by. Great place to visit as well and a fun tour (Braveheart). Doune Castle is another 10 mins away used a location for Outlander and Monty Phython's Holy Grail. Great day out.

The National Wallace Monument
Hillfoots RoadFantastic historical tour. You need to relatively fit as it involves climbing a very steep hill and then spiral steps up to the top to see the fantastic views. You do get to break. The Monument was erected as he was given the title of the Guardian of Scotland (Braveheart).
