Visit the Grottos Trail, a beginner-level trail that leads to and through a secluded, glacier-carved cave system that’s great to explore and enjoy a picnic lunch. Head south on Route 82 and look for the turnout about 10 miles past Aspen.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to drive up the Roaring Fork Valley, head south on Route 82 through Aspen and head into the mountains! Be prepared for a narrow, winding, rock-strewn, and intermittently single-lane drive up to Independence Pass on the Continental Divide at over 12,000’! The round trip drive from our home to Independence Pass is roughly 60 miles and will take two hours. Please check with CDOT to ensure the pass is open before heading out.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to drive up the Roaring Fork Valley, head south on Route 82 through Aspen and head into the mountains! Be prepared for a narrow, winding, rock-strewn, and intermittently single-lane drive up to Independence Pass on the Continental Divide at over 12,000’! The round trip drive from our home to Independence Pass is roughly 60 miles and will take two hours. Please check with CDOT to ensure the pass is open before heading out.
If you’re staying with us on a Saturday, be sure to check out the Aspen Farmers Market and pick up fresh produce from local growers. Enjoy the market with a hot or cold coffee from Local!
