There are two great places to rent kayaks and stand up paddleboards on the Waterfront - Hood River SUP and Kayak at the end of The Hook, and Gorge Paddling Center located at Nichols Basin (roughly across from the Sinclair Gas Station). Gorge Paddling Center is better for beginners as you can paddle around in Nichols Basin before venturing out to the Columbia River. Both offer tours as well. A must do in the summer! Try to get out in the morning when it's a bit calmer.
