Found on the southern corner of Burleigh Beach, the Burleigh Pavilion is by no means the most elevated rooftop bar in Gold Coast, but it still comes with one of the best views. From the open-air terrace you can enjoy amazing panoramics over the Pacific Ocean, Burleigh Beach and the Broadbeach skyline. Dressed in a bright, beachside suite, here you find high tables underneath the umbrellas and front-row stools facing the ocean, perfect for sunny and relaxing food and drinks. Open from 11am every day (except Christmas Day), the Burleigh Pavilion menu includes a wide range of fresh comfort food, from woodfired pizzas to prawns and burgers, as well as refreshing cocktails, spritz, jugs and wine (some on tap). The Pav does not take bookings, so just show up and enjoy a beachside lunch break or after beach drinks, from Thursday to Sunday with local DJs creating the soundtrack. At the northern end of Burleigh Pavilion you also find sister venue The Tropic, which is a full service restaurant offering a relaxed but premium dining experience with a Mediterranean and Modern Australian menu.

The water is this destination's best asset with the white sandy beaches of Main Beach to the east and the calm waters of the Broadwater to the west. This tiny pocket of land can see you surfing one minute and launching a yacht the next. Main Beach is a family friendly beach which is patrolled all year round by lifeguards. If you ever tire of these beautiful waters, Hollindale Park is set back from the beach and has a great playground, picnic area and masses of grass making it perfect for a game of touch footy. Along the Gold Coast Broadwater opposite Southport, you’ll encounter high-end hotels such as Palazzo Versace and exclusive shopping at Marina Mirage. The Southport Yacht Club also sits here and services the beautiful boats which dot these waters. Still further along this slither of land you’ll find the iconic theme park Sea World. Continue a bit further along and you’ll end up at The Spit and the entrance to the Gold Coast Seaway. The true beauty of Main Beach is that it’s where the fish and chip set mix with the bold and beautiful in that true Aussie spirit of egalitarianism.

Spectacular waterfalls, panoramic coastal views and lush rainforest make this heritage-listed nature reserve in the Gold Coast hinterland a wonder to visit. Follow winding trails along forested gorges and stop at waterfalls and lookouts along the way in scenic Springbrook National Park. The park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a unique slice of wilderness. The sanctuary is known for its diverse flora and fauna and wonderful views. The park stretches over 6721acres (2719 hectares) in the so-called Scenic Rim of southeast Queensland, a mountainous and forested area close to the New South Wales border. Take a drive to Canyon Lookout for jaw-dropping views of the Gold Coast punctuated by volcanic ridges and valleys. From there, you can take the Twin Falls Circuit, a 4-kilometer (2.5-mile) track that passes behind two waterfalls and through rock clefts. Follow the Purling Brook Falls circuit to see spectacular waterfalls from a suspension bridge across Little Nerang Creek. Don’t miss the Natural Bridge, the park’s most picturesque geological feature. The rock was formed over millions of years by water tumbling through the roof of a basalt cave. Take the fairly easy circuit walk over Cave Creek to see the waterfall entering the cave, forming a picture-perfect emerald pool.Wander back through the rainforest and listen out for green catbirds, paradise riflebirds and wompoo fruit-doves. Join a nocturnal tour on summer nights to view the amazing light show put on by glow worms, luminous fungi and fireflies. A café opposite the Wunburra Lookout offers home-made lunch dishes or Devonshire tea in a quaint cottage dining room setting. There are also many beautiful places to stop and have a picnic, such as the lovely Goomoolahra Falls Picnic Area.

https://www.destinationgoldcoast.com/places-to-see/burleigh-heads Burleigh Heads, or simply Burleigh to locals, sits like a cool comma between Surfers Paradise to the north and Coolangatta to the south. It’s a picturesque punctuation mark along the Gold Coast and most definitely somewhere to pause. Let’s start with the beach, which enjoys dual popularity with those who like to swim in her protected waters and those who love to surf around the headland. On a day when it might be a little choppy everywhere else along the Coast, you can bet your bottom dollar there’s a protected corner at Burleigh in which to dip. Even strict landlubbers will adore this destination for the Burleigh Heads National Park which wraps around the headline like a fashionable head scarf, offering views of the ocean on the left and a number of walking trails and wildlife to experience. The Burleigh foreshore is home to towering fragrant pine trees characteristic of the coast and in this parkland there are plenty of places in which to picnic or barbecue. This is also an ideal spot for regular art and craft markets, where you haggle and forage along the foreshore with the ocean shouting encouragement in the background. Absolute oceanfront dining exists here where you’ll swear the fish on your plate has jumped straight out of the water, and there’s a burgeoning funky café culture in these parts. New designers are also starting to pepper the shopping areas and an amble along here won’t disappoint. Head inland to West Burleigh in which a large industrial park contains some great shopping and a delicious dining scene. Perhaps this coastal point’s comma should be an exclamation mark instead.
