Orocco Pier is a popular hotel/ restaurant and bar. The restaurant is very good and offers stunning views across the River Forth. The bar is excellent, they have televisions so if there is a sporting event you'd like to see in nice surroundings, head there. The cocktails are brilliant! The rest of South Queensferry is great too so you can have a whole night out here if you fancy. Taxi over will cost c£10/£15 depending on time of day, alternatively hop on the train to Dalmeny and walk down - it is a good 10 minute walk and is down a big hill - not advisable if you're wearing high heels!

Dunfermline's best Indian! You can take your own bottle of wine or beers with you and they don't charge corkage. The food is excellent, real authentic indian. They offer an excellent budget friendly lunch menu too, although even for dinner it is not that expensive. Meal for two will cost between £35 - £60 depending on number of courses. Hop on the train to Dunfermline Town and you can just walk into the town from there.

The Gulshan is on the High Street in Inverkeithing, the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent! The restaurant is fairly small but even if you haven't booked, it's worth taking a stroll up or calling on the day to get a table. Scott's is relatively new. It is always busy so it's best to book beforehand and you can do so on their website. It's over in South Queensferry and is easily accessibly by a taxi or you can always take a bus or train. Serving up market 'pub' food - beautiful views across the Forth and a really vibrant atmosphere.

This is a nice 'traditional' bar. Football and other sporting events are shown on the televisions and it has a real pub feel. The East Port Bar has been around for over 40 yrs and is a bit of an iconic bar in Dunfermline. A good place to go in the afternoon to watch football scores coming in.

My friends and I like to call this the bat cave as it has small alcoves you can sit in. It's not a huge bar but has a great atmosphere. It's hidden on Advocates Close so not a lot of people stumble across it, worth a visit!

Entertainment & Activities

Fife Leisure Park has a lot to offer in a relatively small area. The Odeon Cinema is here, as is a bowling alley, crazy golf, a garden centre with coffee shop and various restaurants including big chains, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Frankie & Benny's and a favourite of mine; Tony Macaroni's. It even has a bingo hall.

Getting Around

The train station is a short 10 minute walk from the cottage. At the end of the terrace, turn right and walk to the very end of the crescent. You will see some newer apartments on your right hand side, walk past them and cross the road. You will notice a large carpark in front of you, walk across the car park and you will go through a gate along a small path and up the stairs, cross the road and you're at the station. Tickets can be bough in person or by using the machines outside. I recommend you buy your tickets here as most stations now have barriers and if you don't have a ticket, you have to wait in long queues at the other end.
