Founded in 1876, this is one of the oldest parks in Toronto, and is just under half the size of New York's Central Park. Springtime is always a fantastic time in the park, when you can see the cherry blossom trees that were a gift from Japan bloom. The park also contains a petting zoo, 1850's homestead, huge pond and children's playground. Every year, the Canadian Stage Company performs a different Shakespeare play for A Dream In High Park.

Dufferin Grove is more than a park - it's a community hub. With a childrens' playground, basketball courts, skate park and bicycle polo hard court, there's always something fun going on. Hit up the farmer's market every Thursday from 3-7pm, then book a fire pit or watch the Toronto Bike Polo league nights pick up games or pop by with your bike on a Wednesday to try out bike polo on beginner's night.

The home of our provincial (state) government, and also a huge park with lots of festivals and statues. Completed in 1893, the Ontario Legislative Building is a gorgeous example of Toronto's turn-of-the-century architecture, like Old City Hall. I've also heard that there's a nest of Red Tailed Hawks that live in the park.
