CAPE REINGA LIGHTHOUSE
You are able to drive on a sealed road all the way to Cape Reinga - takes about 1.30 hour one way and a lovely walk downhill to the lighthouse. Looking to the Southwest you will see where the 2 seas, Pacific and Atlantic meet.

This is huge history of this area when the Croatians came to the north to dig valuable Kauri Gum. This is an actual village where you can meander through to get a real feeling of the what these hard working people did. This is located close to Tuscany Cottage.

Cars and buses are allowed to drive on 90 Mile Beach BUT your vehicle is NOT covered by insurance if you have an accident. (Talk to us first as there are times when the beach is not safe to drive on).

There are takeaway shops and places to eat in Kaitaia as well as a PaknSave as you travel north.
Waipapakauri Pub serves meals which is 7 minutes north of Awanui on the main road north.
In Pukenui Village (10 kms north of the Cottage) there is a 4square and a Bar with meals and takeaways available.
