Hoyt Lake is a great close destination. Stroll around the lake, check out the food and drinks at The Terrace overlooking the lake. Great park with trails and playground. Art gallery, history museum, Japanese gardens right there. Great place for dogs, or a picnic and people watching.
The newly remodelled Richardson Olmstead Complex resides in the old Buffalo Psychiatric Hospital and has some stories to tell and certainly looks like it could be haunted! Just steps from the apartment it now hosts conventions and The Hotel Henry. A great restaurant closed during covid but is rumoured to be opening again soon. One of the most iconic architectural structures in the city is absolutely stunning at night. Many peoples lie walk the grounds with their dogs or grab a bike from the ride share in front.

Canalside

Stroll along the boardwalk, take in WW2 battleships at the navel park, ferry across to the outer harbour, rent a paddle bike or kayak, ride a restored merry go round, grab a bite at numerous restaurants or enjoy curling, ice skating or ice bikes in the winter.
Good trails along harbour for bike riding. Events all summer, food, yoga, neat bike park with off road trails and jumps (my boys love bike riding here)

Food scene
Unique complex carved out of the old grain elevators along the Buffalo River. Great food, views, events, rock climbing, zip lines, Ferris wheel and the biggest labatt blue beer cans in the world.

Great walkable neighbourhood. Lots of shops and restaurants. Elmwood Ave, Richmond Ave, Bidwell parkway, Dorchester, Lafayette are all great streets to walk or bike and see some unique houses and architecture. Penhurst and Lincoln parkway by Hoyt lake have some great turn of the century mansions. Elmwood Ave from Bird to West Ferry is kind of the heart of the Elmwood Village, although you can continue down Elmwood or Richmond to merge with another great eclectic neighbourhood, Allentown.

Elmwood Village

Elmwood Ave, Richmond Ave, Bidwell parkway, Dorchester, Lafayette are all great streets to walk or bike and see some unique houses and architecture. Penhurst and Lincoln parkway by Hoyt lake have some great turn of the century mansions. Elmwood Ave from Bird to West Ferry is kind of the heart of the Elmwood Village, although you can continue down Elmwood or Richmond to merge with another great eclectic neighbourhood, Allentown.

Hertel Ave is another great neighbourhood with local restaurants and shops. Most shops concentrated from Delaware to park side. I always preferred Elmwood/Allentown/Chippewa just because it was closer but Hertel has some good places also

West Chippewa and Delaware Ave has a ton of bars in the immediate vicinity. This is where you will find clubs as well as local bars and restaurants. Elmwood and Allentown are more chill, weekend nights on Chippewa can be crazy! Tons of bars to choose from, including some rooftop, patio and upscale. Close to metro line and theatre district. Really picks up in the later hours.
