Seville is the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region and a hotbed for flamenco dance, especially in the Triana neighborhood. The city is known for its ornate Alcázar castle complex, built during the Moorish Almohad dynasty, and its 18th-century Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza bullring. The massive Gothic cathedral is the site of Christopher Columbus’s tomb and a famous minaret turned belltower, the Giralda.

Monte Gordo is home to one of Algarve’s most beautiful beaches where the waters are warm and the sand is a glorious white.
The main road through Monte Gordo separates the beach and promenade from the rest of the town. On the town side, the road is lined with an array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and on the opposite side there is a wide, open promenade, with palm trees and benches and the golden sandy beach runs along in front.
The great thing about Praia de Monte Gordo is that it is easy to get to and there are plenty of amenities on and nearby the beach. The main road into Monte Gordo runs behind the beach and there is a big free car park just behind the main part of the beach. It offers easy disabled access from the car park, just across the width of the palm-lined promenade and the beach is there, at the same ground level. For refreshments throughout the day visitors are spoilt for choice, with over 10 bar-restaurants actually on the beach and the road behind the beach is literally lined with cafes, bars and restaurants.

Today, as part of the Rio Tinto Mining Park you can visit its museum in the old hospital, the Peña de Hierro mine, and a Victorian-era British house; and take a 22km train ride. The town is the most western resort in Andalusia on the Costa de la Luz, situated at the mouth of the Guadiana River. The views to the river and surrounding scenery are stunning and Ayamonte is also close to the wonderful beaches of Isla Canela and Punta del Moral.
Costa de la Luz has not been touched by mass-tourism, and once you have visited this beautiful region, with its stunning beaches and natural environment, you will definitely be back.

Ayamonte is a modern city, with a working marina, from which you can catch a ferry to cross the Guadiana River to Vila Real in Portugal.
There is a charming old quarter of Ayamonte, with its labyrinth of narrow streets, dotted with attractive plazas, where you can enjoy lunch or a snack in one of the many bars and restaurants.
Places to visit
Ayamonte is home to the 15th century Iglesia (Church) de San Salvador with its wonderful Mudejar ceiling. Ascend its tower to enjoy wonderful views to the river and across to Portugal. There is also the 16th century Iglesia de San Francisco.
Close to Ayamonte is the Marismas del Guadiana (salt marshes), an important wetland area, which holds great ecological value.
Beaches
The nearest beaches to Ayamonte are at Isla Canela and Punta del Moral. Other beaches in the Huelva province worth a visit are Playa del Rompido, San Miguel and Nuevo Portil. The beaches are diverse with beautiful, scenery and pine forests extending to the beach.

It boasts a particularly wide 5.5km stretch of sandy beach, with chiringuitos (summer beach bars), parasols and hammocks for hire and showers. It is a fast-growing resort, with many new holiday apartment blocks, as well as a big hotel, the Ríu Canela, and a golf course. However, it also has extensive sand dunes and marshes home to abundant wildlife, as well as being popular with those who enjoy watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. It can also be reached by a bike path that is also frequently used by rollerbladers.
