The nature reserve surrounding Acorn field is called Chudleigh Knighton Heath and is managed by Devon Wildlife Trust. The reserve is one of the few places where the rare nightjar comes to breed between May and September. They are shy and nest on the ground, so please keep dogs on leads. You can follow a walk known as The Ant Trail which goes into the nearby Chudleigh Knighton Village and around the Nature Reserve. It takes around 45 minutes to complete. A shop and pub can be found in the village. For more information see the DWT site at http://www.devonwildlifetrust.org/reserves/chudleigh-knighton-heath

Food Scene

Booking is recommended. The Elizabethan Inn is located in a prime farming community this pub benefits greatly from the neighbour’s produce and use as much as possible to give the food its unique depth and richness of flavour. All dishes and desserts are made on the premises using either their own original recipes or great classics that have been used for many years. Delicious food and highly recommended by the hosts.
