It has well-deserved popularity, but that also means that there is often a long wait. I suggest getting there early. If they have the salt and pepper squid on the menu, I highly recommend it and any of the cocktails.

Sounds weird, but if you are taking a drive up the gorge (which I highly recommend) then I would suggest going up to Hood River for lunch and then stopping by the fish hatchery on your way back. I mean, can you every see too many sturgeon? They are modern day dinosaurs. Plus, it is free and a great activity for all ages.

I mean, can you every see too many sturgeon? They are modern day dinosaurs. Plus, it is free and a great activity for all ages.
I often go and spend at least an hour looking at books and sitting in the coffee shop. If you like to read, even a little bit, this is a can't miss activity

This is the closest strip, just two blocks west on Fremont. Start there (at Happy Cup) and turn right. There are restaurants, bars, and shops. Stops at about Skidmore.

Sightseeing
Here are a list of outdoor activities and hikes. The guidebooks tell you to see Multnomah Falls, I would stay clear unless you need a waterfall that is super accessible to the freeway and your car. If you are able and willing to walk, here are some other options. These do require a car.
