Most popular of all sushi, is "maguro (tuna)", and this restaurant named the "tuna people", is where the tuna lovers should be. A standing sushi bar has been a popular style during the Edo era, and some of the old established restaurants still use the name "standing bar" although they have become a normal restaurant with tables and chairs.

One of the well known Tempura restaurants in Asakusa, famous more for Tendon (Tempura rice bowl) than tempura. Established in 1887, having a history of more than 125 years, it has evolved to an original style of tendon. In many of the restaurants, the color of tempura is kept to a mild brown, but here, having dipped longer in a dark sauce, it is almost black in color.

Soup extracted from dried fish is light but profound in taste. With Chinese style noodle, the balance of soup and noodle coming in to your mouth is a best match. In plus to the normal "chuka-soba" (750yen), there are also tsukemen (dip style ramen)(750yen) and "bari-niboshi" (750yen), which uses 3 times more the dried fish.

Imahan is definitely an upscale place, good for a fancy dinner. Just across the street from Hitsumabushi, it’s located at the corner of Kokusaidori and Kappabashihondori. You are greeted by ladies in perfect make-up and coiffure wearing kimono. If you are seated upstairs, you leave your shoes and are ushered into an elevator with tatami on the floor. Prices start at 8000 Y, but it’s worth the experience.
