this is one of the classic 'Nashville hot chicken' places. this one is pretty close to my house and in the Melrose area which has other nice restaurants too.

Neighborhoods
This is the main strip / Nash-vegas / honky tonks. Most people coming to Nashville plan to see this some some for live music, bars, dancing, or people watching.
Uber or lyft is probably the best way to get there & back. I'd recommend getting dropped off a block away because the last block will take a while in a car. The schermerhorn symphony building might be the best dropoff point, or a little farther back on Korean Veteran's blvd by the Omni Hotel or the big convention center. you could also approach Broadway from the top of the hill and get dropped off around the Downtown Episcopal Church right on Broadway.
If you drive, i'd suggest parking at the Titan's stadium across the river and walking across the foot bridge. This provides nice views anyway and takes the hassle out of parking, unless there is a stadium event, in which case it might all be blocked.
Even if you do uber downtown, i might still suggest getting dropped off at the stadium and walking across the bridge. there is a nice little Riverside Park there with views of the city and river.

The Gulch is a popular shopping & restaurant district that is near downtown. Parking is rough, but walking and getting dropped off by uber is easy.
