The childhood home of the late HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Glamis has been the home of the Lyon family since the 14th century. Originally a royal hunting lodge, in 1034 King Malcolm II of Scotland was murdered at Glamis. The first castle was built at Glamis by Sir John Lyon around 1376; the present structure however dates mainly from the 17th century.
