Fantastic views of the Atlantic ocean, cliff edges and also the Dun Briste Sea Stack standing 45 meters high. Downpatrick Head became a lookout post during WWII. You can still see the stone building there today. Another intrigue of the area is Poll Na Seantainne: this is a spectacular blowhole that plummets down to the tempestuous ocean below.
While in the area make sure to take the short drive out to visit the Céide Fields Visitor Centre in Ballycastle. The Céide Fields is the oldest known Stone Age field system in Europe. The remains of ancient stonewalls, settlements and megalithic tombs have been preserved here thanks to a protective bog environment

Downpatrick Head

Ireland's only National museum outside of Dublin, Explore the history of country living in Ireland over the last 200 years. On the grounds there is lovely gardens and a cafe & gift shop. entry to the museum is free and is closed on Mondays.
You can walk or cycle on the greenway from Turlough to Castlebar. Just over 7 kms and which ever way you go there is a cafe at the end! This walkway is a fantastic country walk route perfect for kids to walk or cycle.
