The church dates back to the 17th century and is a cave dug out of a soft rock facing right out to sea, and was originally created in gratitude by shipwrecked sailors who'd been saved from a storm.

A small 17th century chapel built into soft rock on the bank that faces the sea, it was constructed in gratitude to fishermen that returned when it was thought they were lost at sea.
