They say this stairs were walked by Jesus. The Romans stole it from where it was and brought it to Rome. If you want to walk them, you have to do it on your knees. You can see it from outside too!

Head for the Scala Sancta to get your wishes fulfilled. Any wish actually. Supposedly being the stairs Jesus Christ walked on in the palace of Pontius Pilatus, a medieval pope had it moved to Rome.

According to the Catholic tradition, they are steps leading up to the praetorium of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem on which Jesus Christ stepped on his way to trial during the events knowns as the "Passion". The stairs were, reputedly, brought to Rome by St. Helena, mother of Costantine the Great, in the fourth century. For centuries, the Scala Santa has attracted Christian pilgrims who wish to honor the Passion of Jesus.
